This update is such great news! I'm so glad I'm addicted to reading this forum since I almost sold my car earlier this year after having so much of the lunging forward coming to a stop. I'll call my SA tomorrow and schedule something asap. Thanks for the update e36addict!

Besides the OP has anyone noticed the return of the overrun crackle with this update?

Dropped my car off at the dealer this morning.

Good news: SA was very understanding and thought it was great that I already knew the SI B update that was needed.

Bad news: He says it probably will require the car to be there overnight

I will report back post-update.

Please do, would love to know in particular if it:
- gets rid of the rolling stop "throttle lag"
- brings back the crackle pop on the exhaust
- makes tip in more responsive

I actually just got a call and they finished it today! I'll be picking it up in about an hour.

Just got back from the dealership. Two words: F**** FINALLY. They really did it this time.

I've only driven about 15miles so far so take this only as a first impression but here goes:

My main issue: when slowing down to a stop then attempting to accelerate there is a noticeable delay of no response then the car lurches forward - FIXED. I won't say it's perfect, once or twice I thought I felt a delay, but it only lasts about 1/10th as long as it used to. If the car was a 4/10 before for throttle response from low gears, it's now an 8.5-9/10. Night and day difference.

Throttle tip in - MUCH more even. Before it seemed like nothing happened for the first second of pushing followed by lots of power, it's more balanced now which is awesome (with one caveat)

Crackling/popping exhaust - No it did not bring back any crackling for me (I don't have PPK). In fact I believe I had more crackling/popping BEFORE this update. (will update after I drive it some more)

Only caveat - the car feels less powerful. Not significantly less, but noticeable. However, I need more time to test this, it might be a symptom of different levels of throttle now required to generate a response. I didn't really get to drive WOT on my way back from the dealer, too much traffic.

Btw - do you know if this software flash is relatively quick or do they need to hold the car overnight? I'm going in for routine maintenance and am thinking of bringing this issue up but I already know they won't have a loaner for me so wondering if it's something that can be fixed same day.

They way it was explained to me is it should take a few hours if all goes well. If it fails to take, it'll take overnight. Mine went in at 9:30 and was done by 5:30.

Had mine done!!

Had mine done here in Miami FL. Got the car back and seems to run smoother and no issue yet with AC on and idle but didn't have much time to see today. But I got a couple of issues:

Coding I did like DVD-In-Motion, folding mirrors with remote and door handle, etc is gone.

I try to tune with my Cobb AP v2 and I am now getting this:

NEW N55 Vehicle ROM

THe AP has identified a new vehicle ROM version. If this ROM ID contains 96A0B or 9780B, you will need to have your DME updated by an authorized BMW dealer before using your access port. Otherwise please contact technical support so we may add your ROM support.

008798098G0BQFT5S

The AP worked prior to this dealer update.

Not sure what to do at this point. Any suggestions?

Thanks for the update!

That's strange that you didn't get the exhaust notes that others earlier in the thread reported. Some of the benefits you reported like tip in could be a result of adaptation hard reset when they update the DME.

If they fixed the rolling stop issue though that alone is worth updating for.

You need to download a new ROM from Cobb, this was answered in the previous page of the thread:

"2011 DCT COBB does still work, the ROM version is 98G0B"

If you're not sure just contact Cobb.

I updated my cobb using the access manager and it still does not work.

Yep I'll update in another week or so to see if the tip in has changed at all. Note that I went to the dealer in July for the last update and thought it was fixed due to the transmission reset, but this feels different. Pushing down on the throttle just makes the clutch grab so much faster at lower speeds now.

And I agree, the rolling stop issues were by far the most annoying and even dangerous. This update is worth it for this reason, regardless of the rest.

Have you driven it with the trans in manual mode and sport button pressed? This is the only way it does the fun stuff for me.. And only in gears 1-3 between 3-4k rpm. A bit specific, but fun

Yea I generally Drive it in DS mode with the sport button on. I did it again on my way to work this morning and there are a few crackles/pops when downshifting, but definitely not more than I had before.

On my short work commute I don't get the car to temp though, so I will do that later today and see if that makes a difference.

Anyone know what version of ISTA/P or intergration version was installed? I had mine done months ago, pre August. I just went to the dealer, they said I have the latest version they have.

If you definitely got it before August they are full of shit. e36addict posted a screenshot of the update:

It is SI B12 15 14. I told my SA about it and he was able to look it right up.

Is there a way to look at this on the car and tell? Through the NAv screen or cluster display?

No. You have to hook it up to diagnosis system of some sort to see the info.
