my waste gates are rattling pretty bad on deceleration from 3-4k rpm.
right now my car has about 38k miles. Still under cpo warranty 2010 n54

i don't have downpipes anymore, due to the smell.

i called local bmw, and i'm scheduled to come in next week.

The SA said dci and midpipes and axleback should be fine. (obv taking cobb off)

so what are the chances of me getting new turbos?

From what I've seen, DME is updated first to mask the rattling noise. Then the wastegate actuator is replaced, and if the issue is still there, turbos will come in. The turbo warranty is extended to 8year/82000mi, so you should be fine.

I got my turbos immediately replaced. No software or actuator changes.

Agreed. Press them to replace the turbos. They have likely seen enough cases that simply return and get a "bandaid" fix. I'd even call replacing the turbos a band aid fix, unfortunately.

Mine are getting replaced now. They were super responsive and just called and said you're getting new turbos.
