Man, to this day I'm still annoyed that I didn't get the Auto High Beams. When I picked my car up it was a standalone option ($250) and didn't require Premium Package to be ordered in conjunction. I skipped over the Premium Pack for several reasons, but would've gladly spent $250 to get the Auto High Beams - I think it would really finish the lighting system, which is already pretty advanced (self-leveling xenons, corner lights, all sorts of sensors built into the steering and suspension). Anyway, I somehow just missed ticking that box on the order sheet, it was sort of buried at the end. I know it's a small thing, but it would've been kind of neat and practically free! And for some reason, I don't see too many cars at all spec'ed with them. Anyway, I think I'll survive somehow.

Enjoy the car - it's awesome! Even after two years of ownership, I'm still in the honeymoon phase.

I don't know I was looking at the auto hi's for mine when I was ordering it and I am ussually a courtious person to oncoming trafic. I though about it hard cause I pretty much went all out with every other option, I just thought it was one of those thing I would'nt need.

Any idea why your production moved sooner?? Mine is currently a week 20 production slot, but wondering if any chance it might go sooner or not.

I hope you have better luck than I. Mine was finished and released on or before 4/7/12. I think it is still waiting for a ship. Good luck.

I don't think it moved up I just think my dealer didn't know what they were talking about.

You can't order them new anymore and they go for way over MSRP used.

What do you get out of antagonizing people on the Internet? I'm really curious. I spent a lot of money on a car I'm exited about and you feel the need to buzzkill the thread?

Well, great job. I'm happy you achieved your goal, I hope you enjoy it.

Oh I not trying to antagonize, just responding to Bobs post. Both my mom and brother drive 128s, they are great cars, but I did not realize how close they were in price. My brother ordered his about a year ago, it is pretty basic, but I remember him telling me sticker was 28k. I was just curious.

And you paid MSRP? Even so, surely tax pushed you up a little over $50k, no? And the OP's 128i looks to be almost totally loaded, which is why he's pushing $40k.

Anyway, the main reason I mentioned it is because your post came off as gloating and raining on the guy's parade.

I think they've been getting progressively more expensive. I want to say they were starting ~$26k.

True that.

Sadly, my income hasn't been keeping up with the steady price increase of te cars...

Yeah, no kidding. But with the 1er it seemed to have happened particularly fast. I thought the whole point of the 1 Series was for BMW to have an entry-level model in the $20k's - of course, once you started adding options, you were going to be in the low $30k's anyway - but now a stripper 128i starts at $31,200? I guess the next iteration of the 1er may move downmarket with cheaper FWD models in the $20k's again, but honestly if I was going to buy a FWD compact car I'd save my money and get a Ford Focus.

It is true. You could have bought a 1M for less than 2011/2012 128 or 135i. This is especially true if your dealer let you do euro delivery or pay a little more than euro delivery invoice.

OP: Congrats on the car LeMans Blue is a beautiful color.

Splinterz, if they would have made the 1M in a convertible, I would have been all over that. But my main objective was getting a convertible in the mid to upper $30K range. And with the 1M being available such a short time and in such limited quantity, not many people were able to get one for MSRP or under.

OP, enjoy your car when you get it! The 128 is a wonderful car, don't let anyone tell you otherwise.

I added pretty much all the packages except Cold Weather and iDrive. MSRP on a 128i is $31k + $9k in options + 3% tax, then I got them down about half way between MSRP and invoice.

An update!

Despite the 800 number saying it was still waiting a ship, it is apparently already on it's way and will arrive on the 15th. My PCD is now scheduled for June 7th!

Pretty sure this is my ship:

Origin Port Departure Destination port Arrival Vessel Voyage Transit (Days) Booking

BREMERHAVEN 29/04/2012 CHARLESTON,SC 15/05/2012 TURANDOT CA217-TUR 16 Book It

And my ship just left Southampton, UK!
