Thx man. I fiddled with it a little bit this weekend. But, alas, life got in the way. There’ll be more happenings this week. Gotta get this quarter panel off and start on the outer wheelhouse.

Meh

Nothing major as of this morning. I’d forgotten to post up this pic the other day. It just shows where I’ve removed the brace above the wheelhouse.

So, tomorrow, the “plan” is to knuckle down and get some serious progress on this thing. I’ve got the day off and a friend coming over to assist and to help keep me on task. I tend to get distracted somewhat easily when I’m out there working alone.

Squirrel!

Rh outer wheelhouse

Well, didn’t end up having the kind of free time that I would’ve liked yesterday. But, I did get the new outer wheelhouse trimmed off and fitted to the car.

Oh man. I’ve got so many other projects to do once this thing is back together.

But, hopefully, between what I’m adding to the knowledge base here on 1addicts and what other guys have posted up; just about anyone should be able to pull it off.

Few details

Here’s a couple pics some might find interesting.

First pic, top view before I completely trim off the old 135i section.

You can see the tire clearance difference between the two parts in the second pic. I’d say it’s about an inch higher and extends outwards about 2”.

Third pic is the front section of the arch.

Fourth pic is the 1M remnant that I removed the wheelhouse from.

A mini milestone

So, I’ve actually started putting things back on to the car rather than cutting them off!

The RH outer wheelhouse is welded on. I didn’t grab any pics of the clamping and welding. I was gloved up and had my helmet on. Messing with the cell phone to take pics didn’t really cross my mind until I was cleaning up a bit.
I’ve still got some more cleaning up to do in a few spots.

The weld thru primer is what’s between all mating surfaces. All the outer surfaces will be painted to match the OE gray.

Tedious

Started doing the fit up of the quarter. Getting everything lined up perfectly takes a fair amount of effort.

Wheels coming off are:

VMR V710
18 x 8.5 ET45
18 x 9.5 ET50

I haven't decided what wheels to run yet. There'll be two sets though. A street set and a track set. I'm leaning towards some 18" CCW classics for the track.
So many options for street wheels. I'm thinking 19's. I wouldn't mind finding a nice set of M4 competition wheels.

I've started sharing on Instagram a little bit too. Have a look @ https://www.instagram.com/billdacat8/ It's super easy to post up pics and info there. However, I've learned so much here on 1addicts, that I feel I'd like to give back here as much as I can.

I bought all my oem stuff through my local bmw dealer.

If you are serious about doing this; you better hurry. Some parts are getting harder to get ahold of. Fenders and quarter panels, etc...
