Question How to replace the overhead map lights?

Did a search and couldn't find an answer on this and I didn't want to pry on the wrong thing and damage the finish. How do I open this panel to get access to the bulbs to replace them with LED bulbs I got? Does the clear lens panel pry out, the silver panel with the lens, or the whole black panel that has the switches in it and the trim ring and where do you start prying?

Thanks,

The clear cover prys off.
The black sections pull out.

I find it easier to use a short bit of small hose to slip over the bulb. I can't fit my fingers in there. Pull the bulb straight out. If you try twisting you'll spin the holder and then you have to remove the whole assembly, you won't like how to do that.
When putting them back in, don't push too hard or you'll push the holders out and be back in the removing assembly method.

iminhell1, thanks.

So, to remove the clear cover do you start on a certains side.. toward the front or the rear, or? And by the black sections, do you mean the black donut shaped ones for the spot lights?

I want to replace that one bulb in the center and then the two ones in the round holes with LED's that I bought.

Thanks,

Yes, black donuts pull out.
Start at a corner for the clear cover. It's a weird fit. It's more like a ziploc bag, not really a clip per se.

OK, thanks for the info... hope I can get them out with my plastic body tools without scaring up the surfaces.

Does you unit look like the one I posted above? Round black donut pieces will not pry out and the clear cover doesn't want to budge, any suggestions?

Thanks,

I don't think you have any idea about how to remove this and if I had actually followed your "advice" I would have destroyed this ... thanks a lot.

LED Replacements

I did a photo instruction on this with LED bulb types in the DIY section here.

Hope it helps some others wanting to replace their bulbs with very low amperage, cool burning LEDs that won't run your battery down if they are left on.
