Sounds good! Seems like a great alternative to the Akra.

Not taking anything away from the Akra, but the sound out of Lightweight's Titan exhaust is just the best. I looked at over a dozen exhaust systems over the period of two years before picking it. Not cheap but worth every single penny!!!

It looks very 'light weight.' Awesome to see this for sale in the states. I really like lightweight as a brand.

Good luck with your sale

What cost would this be to safely courier to London, UK?

If this was for the 335i this would already be purchased.

Lightweight makes excellent products!

I'm surprised this is still for sale at this price... You might find lots of potential international buyers in Europe on eBay, just a tip. I've found it to be a better alternative sometimes for more expensive items for the N54 platform.

I'm frankly surprised myself but I'm guessing that not many 1M owners here are familiar with Lightweight. As you probably know, it retails for much more than I'm asking. I would have killed to have been able to buy it here in the states and at this price!!!

I appreciate the tip. If no one here takes advantage of it by the end of next week I'll go ahead and list it on eBay. I'd rather it go to a fellow forum member but you can only lead a horse to water lol

I'm intrigued by it. Based on the little research I've done, it appears that this is the race version and that Lightweight also make a quieter street version with a resonator.

While I'm sure this one makes great sounds for the track, I'm concerned it would be too noisy for the street.

Comment?

^^I bet this race version isn't too loud for street use. Over here(Germany) the TÜV strict noise standards make for really quiet (aftermarket)exhaust systems. I know a lot of (German)friends who run a "race" system on the street. They just take a small chance that they will be caught by the Polizei one day. But that is a fairly low(risk) chance.

Hi Neil,

I ran this exhaust with catless downpipes and a stock mid-pipe. While sound quality and volume are somewhat subjective I never found this exhaust to be too noisy or found myself "babying" the throttle to avoid attracting undue attention. Also, If there was any drone or increase of whatever drone my stock 1M originally had, I never noticed it. Certainly NOTHING like a Meisterschaft exhaust in volume or drone.
This is what I loved about this exhaust: At normal driving speeds the sound is just a bit louder than stock (except on start-up) but with a much richer tone and deceleration burble. However, once you gun it and chase the redline it takes on a beautiful exotic-like tone that rises in pitch and volume with the RPMs. I think that unique quality has something to do with the higher resonating frequency of titanium as compared to steel.
Out of all the things that I will miss about my 1M I think that it's the glorious Ferrari-like sound it would make when rocketing to redline that I will miss the most.

I agree 100%. When I spoke with the guys at Lightweight I also inquired about the sound level. They told me that 90% of their international orders are for the "race" version and that unless I lived in Germany this was the one to get. As soon as I heard it on my car for the first time I was certainly glad I listened to their advice

Sounds like a good bit of kit then. I'd run it with non-res centre and std downpipes.

How much does this weigh in comparison to the Akra and stock?

I've heard of lightweight and it seems like they're one of only a few companies that offer a titanium version for our cars. Any fitment issues?

It is 17.6 kg (38.7 lb) LESS than stock. No idea regarding Akra.

Good info. So you ran it with the stock catted midpipes. Is that correct?

Thanks.

That's correct Neil. Non-catted downpipes and the stock catted midpipes in conjunction with this exhaust gave me excellent results. The awesome sound without the drone and the heightened throttle response without unburned fuel smell . It even passed the Texas State Inspection with flying colors

I think if I had a 1M I'd be buying this from you. I just need to find the car first.

Hmmm, this is getting interesting.

How does the size of the muffler compare to the stock?

I'm asking 'cause I have a trailer hitch on my 1M and there is only about 1/8" clearance between it and stock muffler.

Thanks.

Neil
