I don't think Vorshlag makes a n52 n54 n55 engine mount yet . Black Forrest the BMW tuner is making one in poly. Maybe email both to signal demand. Also Akg has derlin engine mounts

What caused 2nd gear denial ?
At around 0:18 seconds. Tried to downshift in the middle of the corner in earlier runs and the tranny didn't want anything to do with that

Had to wait until the car was completely straight to downshift without denial.

I'll have to bug Vorshlag on the Engine Mounts. I realized they didn't make them when I started investigating

But, if you order each part by itself, you will save a few bucks. Don't know why bmw did this. lol besides... I did not want the alcantera shifter boot or stubby shift knob.

IF your 135i is an N55, just order parts: #4, #5 and #6.

BMW has stopped producing these parts, so you will have to find a dealer who still has them in stock.

good luck,
Dackel

PS: this pdf migh help with the install...

N54 I have, I will try to find parts, thank you.....

Here is a review of 80a - they are not daily drive friendly

@andrey_gta: From the pictures you posted, it seems like you were able to install the new shift lever without going under the car. Is that right? How did you disconnect the shift lever from the shifting arm and remove the c-clip from the top? I just ordered the BMW SSK which should hopefully arrive in the next couple weeks.

Needle nose pliers. Tricky, but it can be done.

Tool used
needle nose pliers for the following:
- Turn the Platic White bushing
Flat head screw driver
- Take off The BMW*tch clip - simply slide down and pray it falls to ground and not heat shield
- Put back the clip, or a new clip with the help of wire/ fishing line attached to clip loops and DRY non greasy hands/tools
Wire bent to a hook
- to hold and catch the Shift Linkage bar
MASKING TAPE - two layers over trim for poterction
Towels to wipe excess grease

Thanks for the info. I guess I'll take apart the shift boot and knob and have a look at what I can access.

I installed the SSK in my car. Few things to I thought I should note:
  1. Taking off that stupid rubber guard was way harder than I thought it would be.
  2. I could not figure out how to take off/put on the clip from within the cabin so I ended up using a car lift. Everything is super easy to access from the bottom. There was a lot more room than I thought to maneuver between the drive shaft and the lever.
  3. In a lot of DIY I read, the shift knob was separate from the boot. So I tried to pull off the shift knob and found it putting pressure on the wooden trim. Quickly found out that the knob and boot are one piece. I had to first take off the boot and then pull off the shift knob.

And some more pictures! I figure everyone likes pictures.

Man I hate this rubber piece.

This is how it looks like underneath. As you can see in the image, lots of room. I didn't have to take off any underpanel or move the heat shield or anything.

Comparing the the stock shifter to the SSK. Left one is stock, right one is the SSK.

Have to go back underneath the car to attach the clip. Couldn't get enough room to do it from within the cabin.

Nice job. And yes that rubber Second Boot is super snug. It has two long tongues that make it a pain.

andrey_gta How long are your shift throws with the N54 shifter? How long were they with the factory 128i shifter?

I would think the N54 shifter throws would be 80mm's from 1st to 2nd gear. ?

I think I made the note in the initial thread.
Oem 128i lever is a lot like n55 stock lever throw at 75mm, but not n54 stock throw distance at 80mm distance.
The reduction was by about 12-15mm.

I will try to look it up::

Quote:
I went from a 75mm throw to a 60mm throw, a 10mm longer throw than 128i SSK and overall saved 15mm distance over OEM
