Fading or hazing on Jet Black 135 below door jam
I have a jet black car and it seems to show hazing directly under the door jam. I thought maybe it was from pants or shoes rubbing while entering or exiting however it isnt. It is bothering the crap out of me
Am I alone on this one? |

Are you talking about the cosmoline that runs out of the mirrors and doors and creates a streak? Any degreaser will remove this, I'm partial to P21s Total Auto Wash, but anything should work My 2008 is still leaking this goo, so it seems unlikely to clear up, even after 110 degree summers.

Hard to tell from the pic, but what I was thinking you meant would be at the low point of the door, which is pretty much under the mirror.
From where you flag is pointed (with size 0.5 font) I'd guess that you're right, it's likely marring from people getting in and out. You can fix that with a polish. Make sure it's not something like tar on the surface first, you should be able to feel tar or other grime. |

IIRC, I used to get the cosmoline stains from both the front and rear of the door. So what the photo may be showing is what Redbread mentioned. If it ever got to the point that it didn't just come off with a regular wash, I'd hit it with some Stoners Tarminator and one wipe and it was gone. I'd reseal the area afterward which made removal with normal washing easier.
OT- Redbread, do you post on bf.c since you have a Coupe? |
