I did the exact opposite. Be careful with that STi engine, the pistons are as fragile as glass, and the piston walls are as thin as paper.

One knock even will ruin your day, trust me.

< Had about 400whp and smoked many rides, but I went through 3 STi engines and spent the cost of the car in maintenance alone. All and all, in the three years of ownership I only got to put about 10k miles on the car from about 11 months it was driveable.

I also spent over 5k in upgrades to make it as fast as my 135i is with only a jb4. STi's are a money pit, and that is coming from someone who owned a late nineties Eclipse GST (two engines on that one...).

Also, don't go to the Subaru meets unless you're a fat and akward looking kid with bad skin, poor hygene and you wear skinny jeans. Then, you'll fit right in.

Of course, how could I forget...

And, the strategically placed stickers on the back window. Your choice of at least two of the following:

'Shocker'
'Helluflush' or
'illest'

..for the final touch.

Jokes aside, I bought my 135i because my STi lost a race to a jb4 only 335i. After almost 20k spent in maintenance and mods, I was more than displeased with that outcome.

Ouch yea that happend to me with my 04 STI about 10k in motor and I got slapped in the face by an 08 135i with jb4,down pipes took him off the line only to be even at 50 and by 70 he had me by I'd say 5-7 cars I was blown away by it givin it was an auto 135i and I'm not claiming to be Jeff Gordon with a manual but I kno how to shift! Dude Dempsey seems young maybe he'll enjoy the newer STI but I can honestly say I enjoy this car more stock then my STI done up

You see I had the opposite experience. Taking a late model WRX in my stock convertible while I had 4 people in the car.

The guy looked so cheesed!

Also, not for nothing. all Subarus sound the same. It doesnt matter what you do to them, but a Legacy Wagon with an exhaust will sound identical to an STI with an exhaust.

I always preferred Evos to the Scoobs, but to each their own. What kinda power are you putting down with it?

If one of my employees showed up with "Arrogant" on his or her car we'd have a serious talk. If someone came to interview with me with "Arrogant" plastered on his/her car there'd be no job offer forthcoming. Just sayin'.

Why would one represent themselves so negatively? Maybe get 'ASSHOLE on your license plates LOL? I don't get it.

If I saw you in the other car I'd think to myself 'There goes a kid with a nice toy" and at least that's better than "What an asshole"...

Along the same lines I never knew why Dale Earnhardt Sr. allowed himself the title of "Intimidator". If that's how he won his races - through intimidation - I'm no fan. I'd rather idolize someone who wins races due to a skill level.

Don't people realize what labels are?

I went the other direction... Sti --> 135i. After spending money on a JB4, downpipes, and intakes I'm kicking myself in the pants. 25k and 2 built motors later I was tired of my Sti. Granted it was running >400whp but the fact of the matter is the lag completely takes out the fun factor with a turbo that big. Sure, listening to a huge turbo spool, hit, and go is fun. However, the 135i minus lag is faster than an Sti all day.

On the other hand, the awd was nice and what I miss along side the boxer rumble. I've never had a car that cornered like my Sti.

As for the color scheme... In the 1er world it clearly isn't common, but you'd be popular with that car on NASIOC. Just completely different worlds even on forums. Along side this one I am on a forum for my C63 and the difference between this forum and that is night and day.

Out of curiosity, did you make a thread like this on nasioc or similar forum? I bet the majority there just bash the 135i and brag about how much better the Sti is. Maybe one or two are like dafuq?

Regardless, both are fun cars. Enjoy it.

Drove one and seen many local STI go boom boom on stock and aftermarket tunes.

Power is no where to be seen until at least 3-4k.

I'm not a hater at all, I drove one with 6 miles on it and it was already rattling in the rear.

Motor already blew, its now all forged internals. However i much prefer the sti to the 1er, a much better track car. And personally i am more worried about performance than power seats. Thanks for the love guys who werent cocks tho those of you who were you are just butthurt than my sti would eat your 1er for breakfast.

STI is a great car, it was between a new STi and my 135i when i was buying last year. Personally im really glad i went with the 135i. The STI is a slight downgrade overall for ya but tons of aftermarket, AWD and a great sound coming out the back.
the sti is in no way a downgrade. it will go around the 'ring over thirty seconds faster than your adorable luxury coupé with its leather seats.
