Best Navigation retrofiting options? (carputer, double din, Erisin, Dynavin)
So I've been searching best options nav set up with touch screen options, I am aiming for touch screen just because I like it and no dont say should buy a portable nav or have bought the IDrive, simply put only 5 used 135i's in 300 mile radius when i was looking, none had idrive so im in a 09 135i and trying to decide putting a carputer or nav set up (such as alpine double din).
or... the other options ive seen a few new write ups on the dynavin but has anyone seen or used the Erisin? Dynavin http://www.ebay.com/itm/GPS-Navigati...ht_5712wt_1139 Erisin http://www.ebay.com/itm/Erisin-ES109...a0cb6a&vxp=mtr what do you think best bang for the buck? what do you guys have out there? local car enthusiest (my friends) are saying carputer fabricated some where especially because can hook up obdII programs, just looking for some ideas and what peoples thoughts are. Cant seem to find really anyones carputer set ups either. |

had a buddy having a dynavin in his e46. That thing has so many problems. I forgot count how many times we needed to restart the unit on a 3 hour drive because it would consistently malfunction when you would switch between modes or start messing with settings.
I would say just get a double din navy that you like from a good re-seller and get the janus-design double din bezel for our cars to go along with the double din navi. Most importantly still looks OEM. http://www.janus-design.net/english/...ee02/index.php

think ill be retrofitting a nexus 7 into my dash , relocate factory stereo to trunk, the nexus 7 is closest thing to double din size, ill cut double din in half between stero and temp controls, and make some kind of hinge so i can easily take the nexus out if needed, ive seen online a guy do it to his audi

If I wanted to change out the BMW radio, I would seriously look at something like this:
http://www.sonicelectronix.com/item_...DNX6190HD.html I like the Kenwoods because they are a "name brand" and use Garmin navigation software. I would expect have some problems putting it in and would think about buying from Crutchfields because I think their support may be better but my main point is I would not buy the "no name" double DIN unit for a BMW. A pioneer, alpine, etc.. seems like it could be worth the trouble but not a unit with questionable software and support. Jim
