Yep, you did some hard contracting time. Congrats on surviving.
I have heard of Mantech. I did contracting for the Air Force, and then worked for BAE, but I didn't have to travel. In the I.T. world, you can just bounce across fiber.

The previa had a 2.4L engine but was available in NA and supercharged options at the same time. We have the NA version. I think it is related to the 2.4L engines in use today, but Im not positive on that.

Current Other Cars:
2008 Jeep Grand Cherokee Laredo 4x4: Aesthetically a good looking car inside and out. Plenty of room to haul stuff around and a pretty competent full-time 4WD. Interior quality is on par with most Chrysler products (as in, not the greatest) and the V6 is underpowered (~212hp).
1996 Nissan Altima: What can I say about this car? It's the beater of the three, even though it's not. It's been well taken care of, runs perfectly with adequate power. It constantly gets compliments on its good condition. Its seats (front and back) are very comfortable. I really have nothing bad to say about this 13 year old car. Next on the list is a lease on a 2010 Mazda3 to replace the Altima as a daily driver, then ED on a 2011 BMW 5-series! Last edited by 1ToBeOn2Wheels; 03-25-2009 at 08:25 PM.. |

forgot to add my very very first car back in the day it was a true bucket/beater...
Honda Accord 1987 Boy was this car hard to start by the time it landed in my hands... remember the good old days when people had to step on the gas a little and warm up their cars for 10mins or so before driving off? Yea thats how it was.... I was once stranded in my school's parking lot because of this car... It just wouldnt start.... Had to let it go even though the japanese built quality of this car was in near perfect condition. The paint and clear coat did not peel but it had like 350k on it. Amazing that it survived that long... Kinda had a love hate relationship with this car.

My last 2 cars were Mazdas, 5 speed manuals. A 2002 Mazda Protege 5, excellent handling, great driving position, great brakes, OK motor, torquey but not high revving. A very fun car. Installed air intake, exhaust, hi perf tires (Falcon FK451 very good tires), stereo, cross drilled/slotted disks, rear swaybar, easy to work on and fun to modify. Not fast, but fun and very good handling. Next car was a 2005 Mazda 3 Sport GT (hatchback). Much faster motor, lowered, full exhaust, air intake, drilled disks, hi perf tires (Falcon FK452 - great tires - much better than the RS050As), high-end stereo, handled very well, stiff ride, fairly quick... took on a couple of Acura TLs, they barely got ahead up to about 120km/h. The BMW is a 2008 128i with sport package, 18" wheels with the RS050A run-flats and the Steptronic with paddles (first auto car in a long time - always drive in DS with the paddles) the motor is great! Very smooth and powerful - loving the motor! The handling isn't really any better... if you shut off the DTC and/or the STC, the car is not benign or friendly. With the standard setup, the traction/stability control kicks in around tight corners and kills the drive. With the front wheel drive cars you could hammer into a corner and it might plow a bit, but you could get thru the corner quickly. If you tried to enter a corner at the same speed with the BMW with the nanny controls off, you might end up in the ditch. With the controls on, you end up bogging down. The seats and heaters are great, the driving position fine, stereo good (HiFi Performance), back seat pathetic and BMW won't even let me check the oil. A bit of a love/irritate relationship. I'm loving it, but they don't even install an alarm as stock! And as for mods, I don't think I can afford any BMW mods - ridiculous pricing. And their free service... I changed the oil at my cost at 2000km and will do it again at 10-12,000km. I'll let them do it once a year and I'll do it in between. But I do actually love to look at the car and to drive it... it's just that it could be better and not cost any more. Dave
