Ferodo DS2500 brake pads, anyone with any experiece?

been hearing great stuff about these pads. from what I am reading, if there ever was a street pad that performed really well on the track, these might be it. really considering these pads for my next set. anyone with any experience? here is a link for the specs

Ferodo DS2500 is a club race pad that can be used on the street and for light track use. This compound produces some noise on the street, but retains good cold friction, and has an MOT of around 1,000 degrees F. It also has 35% less compressibility than competitive products, giving it very good pedal feel and modulation characteristics. DS2500 has an average friction level of approximately (0.50) which remains constant at any speed, and at any temperature up to 1,000° F.

Best pad I have EVER used! Hands down! They are pricey, but excellent. You can control the pressure so nicely and peak braking forces feel very high. They weren't bad at all on the street for me even during the cold NY winter. For daily use and weekend HPDE events I think they will be difficult to beat.

Hi Harold,
do you sell these pads? what do you think about getting an extra front set of the DS3000 for track use? since they are the same compound can I use on the same rotors? I have heard varying opinions on noise but I am getting warmed up to these pads.

I have not sold them for the oem 135/335 or M3 applications, but I have sold and do stock many for Brembo Monoblocs and Stoptech ST-40 and 60 caliper pad shapes to those not looking to swap out their pads between street and autox/HPDE/light track days. I have a few M3 customers overseas with Brembo Monoblocs swear by these pads and said there is nothing else out has the characteristics of these pads.

You certainly can use DS3000 for a track pad as long as you take good care at bedding them in properly.

I have not, sorry. I never had the opportunity to. I presume that they would perform well with LIGHT track duty, but if you are really hard on your brakes and your favorite track has long straights and heavy braking zones I bet you could get them to reach their limit like any aggressive street pad. I have pushed them as hard as they could be pushed on the street with no hiccups at all. They make little to no noise in comparison to the HP+ pads that I have also used.

Would they be dual purpose pads for you? How hard on the brakes are you? I think given proper cooling you could push these brakes pretty hard without them giving up on you.

I have just added to my stocking order from Ferodo some DS2500 pads for 135, 335 and the M.

I'm on my second set of Ferodo ds2500. They're exactly how you described them.
Thre're a good compromise for hard street use and light trackdays.
They have a cold friction comparable to stock pads.

If track use is the score, I recommend PAGID. Expensive but the best on the market.

We use Ds3000 on rally cars gr.N. Good for hard street use but they're too aggressive on rotors and wheels.

I wouldn't hesitate to grab the DS2500's, they're damn good pads all around.

I'll tell you what I will not use ever again is the Hawk HP+ pads. Horrible cold friction, poor compressibility characteristics (terrible modulation, more like an on/off switch), tons of noise in most temperatures and anything less than full braking and they produce the most brake dust I have ever used for a street pad. I could not clean my wheels fast enough with my STi and dust baked themselves into the the crevices of my wheels that I could not get out with a light bristle brush. When heated up they did generate some high peak braking forces, but that is all they were good at.

thanks guys. I am now curious about pagid as well. it seems they make pads for 135 but can't find a retailer on-line that sells them. rs-5 blue and the rs-19 seems to be ideal for me. anyone with any info where to get some pricing on the pagid pads?

Just ordered my pads from Italy...should be here next week. Then installing them and braided brake lines for Nurburgring next weekend.....

So, won't actually be a fair assessment because I'll be upgrading both lines and pads at the same time.

^ no worries about the break lines although it will help with some pedal feel. just need your impression on how they handle the heat and overall impression. I guess the ring is not too hard on the brakes but never the less it would be great to hear your impression. thanks,

btw, are you planning to bed the pads before you head out to the ring?

Most definitely....that will be an adventure for Friday after the install as Sat are 1/4 mile drag races and Sun is the 'ring...Hope I don't f*ck my car up that weekend ;-)

I did two sessions at Hockenheim with stock brakes and pads...only mod was 5.1 fluids. After the first session there was slight brake fade as I was pulling back into the paddock. After the second session, no issues with stock. Hockenheim has 13 or so curves so can be quite hard on brakes...I was glad they worked ok.

Rs-19 are the best for track use.
But they cost twice the ds2500 here in Italy.

I'm satisfied of my ds2500, braided brak lines and dot4+ brake fluid.
