that looks like a kit catered to a select few. If that was the purpose then well done, but if you want to mass produce, then i'd say you need something a little less radical.

Well, this is for racing, so how it works is more important then look.

Packeisen Motorsports shows new GT-Model (07.02.2009)
Weight is shrinking and power is rising in the Anniversary Year! 2009 is our anniversary year! (more news to come…) Due to this special reason, we are focussing on essential topics this year. We are starting 2009 with a lightweight construction for the new BMW E82. We decided to use the BMW 1 Coupé as construction base as its weight is 100 kg less than the E92 BMW Coupé. Together with our partner, Peter Flossmann, we again created a complete carbon fiber kit. Now it is time to concentrate on the engine and the additional parts… In this year we will change our engine concept fundamentally with our engineer Roland Gathen while using a new designed crank mechanism of the S54( E46 M3) engine. The new 2995 cm3 engine will have 425 HP and 9000 min-1 and it is specifically made to fit international standing orders concerning SP5 automobiles. Further the car will have a 1080 kg chassis with a sequential 6 gear. As for the the axles, we invented a new stearing system, which will be avaible for our motorsports customers in our new shop. This new rocket car can be seen in June 2009 during our anniversary celebration “85 years of Autotechnik Packeisen”

I think that's pretty cool in an outrageous over the top kinda way. I really apprecaite the way some of the body lines flow together. I've seen other hood designs I like better though. It works as a race/track/show car, but I can see it doesn't appeal to many here as a DD. Minus the huge wing and lip, I can see some of the ideas working for "normal" cars.
It would have been more interesting and closer to 1er's hearts I think if they stuck w/ the N54 platform. None the less I'm intrigued... Hell of an effort - can't wait to see the finished car.

if this is legitimate, and i still haven't decided yet (the rear bumper looks too similiar to the one we don't speak of's) if it is good quality carbon fiber, i might think about getting the doors and roof, as they are oem copies, so aren't too extreme for my taste, as sadly the rest of the car is...

I kinda like it. Im always a fan of things that have an actual design purpose in mind, rather than just looking pretty. It also looks slightly like a DTM car, which of course are gorgeous.
To comment about the N54 vs S54 thing. I would think that boosted cars are most likely not allowed in the class that this car will run in. And the S54 is much better in terms of NA tuning. suit on Last edited by BrokenVert; 09-22-2009 at 07:18 PM.. |

i personally think its nice. Obviously it's been designed to mimic the ALMS M3, which is a pretty awsome looking car. If this kit were produced for street cars I could see it looking good if the fender flares weren't so far out, the rear spoiler drastically shrunk, and the front lip all but removed. Basically a less-radical version of whats shown here. I'd consider it though, I love the ALMS car, any my 128i is already AW, so i've got the color, just need the body kit
