Chaps I stopped by super cheap yesterday after the track day and they have a BOGOF special on fire extinguishers.

also I dont know if anyone got the mounting bracket or not but I tried to track the part down from bmminiparts.com but there seems to be 2 seperate part numbers. unless someone can tell me why i guess i'll buy them both

Possibly because a 1 or 3 series seat is different to, for example, the BMW performance seat? I don't know... that's the only thing I can think of.

hey nothing wrong with giving me a heads up saying is on back order or whatever instead of not letting me know anything at all

I rec'd 2 brackets from bmmini this week, I must say i hate that website and find it rather confusing!

After finding what appeared to be my seat there were two seperate part numbers with the same description, i thought WTF.

So I asked and got no reply Ok then guess I'll take both.

One appears longer with an additional dog leg, whereas the shorter is simply a right angle bend.

I'll attempt to fit them up on the weekend and take some shots

Ok this looks like one of the brackets I have (and not using) but can you tell me how you mounted it to the seat. I have had a look under (with the aid of my #1 bms ciggie torch) and there are a few holes but none are threaded, do I just shove a self tapping screw in?

Do the holes line up correctly? If so, then that seems like the correct course of action perhaps

Ok so the confusion on the duplicate description and separate part numbers is well.......they both fit! Just different style (would have been nice for a photo from bmmini) please see both photos and one has the extra 'wiggle' but both fit the seat (yes i am a little retarded and you need to be careful as the supplied screws will kinda self tap). Just be careful as they are easily stripped. for a little added protection i put a couple of ZIPPPPPP ties on the mounting bracket and the seat frame, just to be sure there are no nasty surprises.

Ohh almost forgot the last photo (sorry a little fuzzy) you will see the SCA brand fire extinguisher mounting bracket, i had to (lets call it) tap the mount on the right out 10 - 15 mm to match the bmw bracket but all good

Sorry dude, after I put the "w" shaped bracket under the drivers seat I thought I'd see if the "L" shaped bracket would fit on the passenger seat and it did (IMO better than the "w" bracket) so I figured I'd put them both on.

i'd say the drivers side pokes out an extra 7-10 cm. i'll see how it goes but i might get another shorter L shaped bracket for the drivers side if it is obtrusive.

yes I notice its there when i walk up to the car and open the door, stands out like dogs balls. I did not notice it whilst driving into the office this morning, although I did knock it slightly getting into the car yesterday, but that could be a coupe thing.

Like I said I'll leave it as is for a couple of weeks and if I find it either visually or physically obtrusive i'll swap it out for the shorter L bracket.

If I was buying right now i'd definately get the shorter L shaped bracket only. Oh and the BMS super torch was a god send looking for the mounting holes under the seat

Ah ok cool - I am just going to mount mine on the passenger seat, when it actually arrives....

Haha all good! I'll fab something up at work using aluminium... if only there was information out there on the L-brackets specifications... *cough* lol
