Engine Codes

I’m looking to buy a N55 135i and it has a couple of engine codes stored, but the light isn’t currently flashing. It is missing one of the intake ducts and the owner says that is causing the codes to appear at times. Nothing seems to be sounding off with the car and there are no leaks that I have spotted. It just crossed 50k miles.

The codes are:
28A0: throttle valve opening angle absolute pressure intake pipe; comparison pressure too high

2BC0: mixture control fuel air mixture too lean

Too lean is not good. I'd replace the charge pipe with a metal one, clean the MAF properly, and change the plugs. Past that it might be the injectors(?)

Gotcha. I’m just trying to see what I’d be getting myself into. I would upgrade the charge pipe anyway. I just don’t want to buy the car then get stuck with a crazy problem

Take it to a good independent BMW shop and ask them to do a pre purchase inspection. Generally it's worth every penny vs. buying a problem.
