I assume the process is different for the black chrome tips on the 135i? I wouldn't think you'd want to use a wire brush on those...

+1 I wouldn't use steel wool on shadowline. I also wonder if the interior of the pipe on a shadowline exhaust tip would clean up nice like those M3 tips shown above?

I would avoid using the steel wool on black chrome as you suggested. I'll see if he can do a follow up post sometime in the future when he gets a black chrome exhaust tip.

The trick is to keep them clean as you go along. Once a week I borrow some of my dads stainless steel stove cleaner. It is a steel/chrome cleaner that is designed to clean and protect metal that goes under many hundreds of cycles of heat and cold. They keep my tips looking great and shinny.
