Lot of options depending on what exactly you are looking for; the stock ones could be right! But try looking at thread "Brake pad performance on track"

Both street and track. I track the car not more then 2 times a year, so mostly street use but need to be safe in track braking

Probably not many responses because there is no such thing as a pad that excels both on the street and the track.

A good track pad will squeal on the street, produce break dust and not stop well when the discs are cold -- so they're not ideal for running on the street.

Since swapping pads is an easy job, you'd be much better off buying some track pads and swapping them in for our track events.

I've done 6 track days; the original BMW pads will be best for you until you get at least 3 or 4 tracks days experience.

I have used the 08 with great results on both of my cars. They are an endurance pad and thus designed to last a very long time. They also provide more bite than the stock pad. You should be able to get 10-15 days out of the 08. The 01 has noticeably more initial bite but does not last nearly as long.

That being said, if you are a rookie the stock pads should suffice (assuming they have at least 50% of material left, if less just get some new stock pads). Once you get some experience under your belt and are consistently braking at the threshold of ABS you will want some decent pads (PFC 08 is a great choice), braided stainless steel brake lines, and some high temp brake fluid (Motul rbf600, Castrol SRF, ATE 200, etc).

Good luck, have fun, be safe!

BMW Performance Pads are OE'd Pagid Yellows, to my understanding.

I run Pagid RS-29 on both track and street, with about ~15+ track days per season. They are more than 50 percent good at end of season, so more than enough for my purposes. They're endurance pads, used by GT endurance racers everywhere, and are formulated to last a long time under race conditions. Oddly, brake squeal on street is very minimal, and grip is superb on both street and track. I have nothing but "awesome" to say about them.

But they're pricey, and probably overkill for 2 track days per year (and BTW, the BMW Performance Pads are more expensive than the same Pagid-labeled pads based on my cursory research).

Pagids don't get a lot of noticeable promo, but they are well worth a look. I've haven't tried anything but the RS-29, but there are more streetable versions available.

It bears further research. I'd heard it anecdotally from someone, somewhere, and spent several hours trying to track it down through the BMW and Pagid parts catalogs, but I didn't come up with anything definitive.

On that basis they might even be Pagid blues, for all I know.

Anyway, here are the front RS-29s:
