The BMW one is great. It snaps right in the rear side windows and the rear window. It's as good as tint, and you can take it out over the winter. They store in a small bag, as they snap-fold up very cleverly.

Once you figure out how to install it, it works very well.
It comes with a nice storage bag.
It fits very well and keeps the interior out of the sun.
I like the fact that it doesn't have a "Tweety Bird" on it.(like some others)
It is a little pricey though.

Yes you might need it for about maybe 40 days out of the entire year, if that. It doesn't shine that much to worry about it in Seattle.

If you really want to protect it, get a good car cover.

I just recently bought the BMW Sunshade from Dan at United and am very happy with it. It fits perfectly although I have to detach my Passport 8500 but I can still leave the mount w/suction cups on the wind shield. It comes in a vinyl pouch as well. Definitely recommend it if you want something thats made perfect for fitting the 1er.

Order from Cee Bailey's!!! I made the template for them myself. You get the front windshield as well as the front and rear windows on both the driver's and passenger's sides. They are VERY effective and durable. They also come with a handy draw-string carrying bag, although I just lay them flat in my trunk between uses.

I just got a Covercraft sunshield from www.AutoBarn.com. It's the stiff kind that folds and stores in a bag. It's got a plain silver outer face and a dark grey felt like inner surface. It fits great.
A bit pricey at $69.90 plus shipping but it should last the life of the car.

I live in Florida - I've had mine since the first week I bought my car. I use it almost daily and like it lots. The sun shade coupled with tinted windows prevents the interior of my car from getting too hot in the sun. I figure with less UV rays... the leather will last longer.

For what it's worth, the BMW sunshade is not that good at shielding the cabin from heat the heat. You need one with some type of reflective material on it. I purchased mine from these guys:

http://www.canvasworks.com/

We have had one in our MINI Cooper for about 3 years now, and it has held up tremendously. It's around $40.

Also, if you are moving to SoCal or Florida, get to know the parked car operation for your climate control. Setting the timer for 30 mins before you leave to go use your car is incredibly handy. I have set this up for when I leave work. Makes the car nice and comfy prior to getting into it.

I have a "HeatShield" sunscreen for my SUV. It is reasonably reflective, fits and works pretty well. The only thing I don't care for much is the rollup method of storage. It is functional but if you roll it tightly it is a bit of a pin to unroll to use. And you have to roll it up fairly tight for the velco strap to work. I'd like to try a Cee Bailey but their website still does not show anything for a 1.

So I plan to get the BMW one unless something changes. The price isn't great but I think I paid $35 or $40 for the HeatShield for my SUV - a little less but it doesn't have a storage bag and I think I would like a foldup for storage design better. I am going to have to buy it in the next week or so so I have it when I get PCD. It is far too hot and sunny here to go without. I plan to tint the side and back glass too.

Jim
