Only way it makes any sense is as a base model. Leave all options behind.

You could load it with all options and it would still make sense, given how much less it is compared to much lesser cars; 335is, all Z4's

Managed to get a picture of the price sheet of the 1M at the autoshow today. Seems like a lot of goodies will be included. CM

You are totally right. And I expect everybody to negociate their price even if bmw canada say that there will be no room for negociation. 4900$ for executive ..... I hope they will change their mind..

Ouch, yeah, when you lay it all out, that price sounds pretty steep. I can't see myself paying 65k for this.

We'll see if there is some room for bargaining later in the year...

I doubt there will be any room for price bargaining on the first production. Pretty soon dealers will have to story to tell potential buyers about how limited it is and how hard they fight to get one.
Personally, if I want one and I can't get a brand new, I'd just wait for a while and find a pre-owned. I am pretty sure some buyers will get rid of theirs because it's truly not a car for everybody.

4900 for the exec pkg seems steep. My lease is due next Feb. It will be interesting to see if there is any wiggle room then.

Guess it depends on how you look at it. 65grand for a 1 series is crazy when you look at what 65k can buy in a lightly used car. 55k will get you a CPO 2008M3 with low mileage now.

When you start comparing new vs used car prices you bound to find all kinds of options...
Does it really make sense though

Why not? If you consider that ALL cars depreciate in value, even BMW's, it is something else to consider. A pre-owned 2008 M3 can be bought for under $52k with less than 10K miles. In BMW terms, that is just a break-in period (since many of them can potentially last over 300K miles)....

I know that there is a 7% difference between dealer cost and msrp on 2011 135i and 9% on the M3 and 3 series i don't for the 1M but I will be very happy if I can get 5% off and that only for cash purchase.

Do you any particular examples of Canadian certified series M3 with under 10000km under 52k?

People like to talk.
I know dealers mark up used cars, but the only one even CLOSE to $52k is the first one I have below and that has almost 60,000km.
The only one close to 10,000km is a base 2011 with just the 19" rims, for $69,000.
Comparing similarly optioned used M3's to 1M's, you're looking at roughly the same prices, but a good chunk of mileage and 3 years less warranty.
This is without knowing if any of the used M3's have been in accidents or abused.

You wont be getting any discount on this car. Not when the guy behind you will pay full price.
