Actually, the word "gay" shouldn't be immediately assumed as derogatory. The gay pride colors include purple, blue and red.

It was originally meant to be a derogatory term by the individual using the term, but, yes, I originally also thought it did look a bit similar to the pride rainbow. Poor judgment by the poster and by BMW (not that there's anything wrong with the pride rainbow or what it stands for). Let's just remain respectful of everyone's personal choices and ethnicities.
