Upgraded maintenance backout
Hi Guys,
When signing the financial paperwork I agreed (pls don't ask why!!) to the 6yr/100K maintenance program. I am having second thoughts about this. Is there any chance I can reneg out of this? Thanks. |

How much extra did you pay? Keep in mind there are some expensive scheduled maintenance/service over 50,000 miles and if you plan to keet the car awhile it might actually end up saving you money in the long run.

If I understand correctly, the maintenance program was designed as an addendum to the factory 4yr/50k plan; you're basically tacking on an additional 2yr/50k miles. To me, for $2k, that's not bad especially when maintenance costs are expensive (and unforeseeable) for a BMW later down the line. If you plan to mod the vehicle after the factory warranty is up, then, well, you're going to have to wait another 2 years. If not, it's a good "peace of mind" product.

Scheduled maintenance from 50~100k (assuming you put that much mileage on in 6 years) is:
3 Oil services @ $200 each 2 30K Inspections (check with your dealer for cost) Maybe front & rear brakes - ca. $1,200.00 (Perhaps you'll need them at 49,000, but not again 'til 101,000!) Maybe Lester can list the other "expensive scheduled maintenance" items he mentioned from 50~100K. Don't forget that some common items like control arm bushings are warranty, not maintenance. Tom |
