Air filter
Just wanted to let those people out there who have the 128i know, if you are looking for a easy cheap, and quick performance upgrade, I definetly recomend putting in a k&n filter. I just put mine in two days ago. It is only 47$. You don't feel a big difference, but you definetly do feel a difference, car is a little more responsive, and the gas milage is better.

I'm guess the same thing, I purchased mine online, so if the air filter does not fit for the 09, then they probably won't sell it to you.

The K&N part number is E-2022. I've just put one in my 125i, so am looking forward to seeing better fuel economy.

hmm.... i would have thought that with the driving i do, it would be lower than yours.... duno... strange that the 130 is getting a lower average.... has it always been around that level since you got it, or has it slowly come down?

Now that I'm back in Melbourne, I'm still getting 14L/100km on my day to day driving I only fitted the K&N filter a few days ago, so I'm yet to see what affect it has, if any. I'd be surprised if it makes any difference at all. I certainly can't noticed any gains in performance - might have been a complete waste of money.

Does anyone know if replacing the OEM filter with a K&N will affect the warranty?

I can confirm that the K&N filter does sweet fuck all in the 125i. It adds no performance, nor does it have any impact on fuel economy. Total waste of money in my opinion.

Any gains in the air filter will only happen at high air volumes (though it can help reduce sucking losses at lower volumes, whilst technically adding to pumping loses as well), and the gains will be so small you wouldn't 'feel' them.
It will however save you having to replace the filter at service, provided you inform BMW not to swap.

i think the majority fo cold air and short ram intakes are open filters, i don't think having the filter exposed is going to be a big deal.
i've had them on previous cars and put 50,000 miles on an open filter before |
