Yep. There's also some strange stuff going on with the cupholder that's mounted on the console. That's supposed to come with IDrive cars, but some people without it are getting it. There doesn't really seem to be any method to it. It's not tied to the sport pack, or premium pack from what I've seen.

My guess is that there are parts supply issues, and they're using alternative parts to keep the production line running.

I have PM some of the forum members in regards to the footrest and as far as they were concerned, they didnt order the footrest as an acc.
They all thought it was standard with the sports pack.
I thought it might be a regional "thing" like certain paint choices not been available in USA.

that car was not a US car, it was a Canadian car

not quite the same

the unofficial story is that canadian cars were not supposed to have the engraving around the start button to begin with (the first batches did), and they seem to have very recently added that M footrest or dead pedal.

On a sidenote, I personally find it ridiculous that BMW changes the spec on cars 2 months into production... but things in Canada sometimes work weird like that.

i think we're getting our money's worth, we get a $9000 alloy footrest compared to our friends down south who get a piece of plastic.

Can someone take a picture of the M footrest?

The pic of the M/// dead pedal was on a Canadian car that was probably made around the same time as the first coupes coming to Australia. I am confident that at least the first arrival coupes to Australia will have the same.
