NO Temp~Gauge on the 128i

I test drove the 128 yesterday. [-Nice Car!] In less a few blocks I was shocked to look down and not be able to tell the temp of the motor. After looking over at the the salesman, and saying well hell it must be warm by now, I launched it onto I-5 Northbound. :iono:

I'm still stunned that it is missing.

The e90 NA motors don't have it, and the e46's all had dummy Water temp guages. They never went above mid-temp unless you were overheating. The reason that I've read is due to the included service, where they kept getting false positives form people having service for cars in the normal temp range, because it was running slightly warm.

Since the guage in the e46 was nothing more than a fancy looking idiot light, so with the introduction of the e90 (325i and 330i) they replaced the guage with an idiot light. So, 3 series haven't had a true temp guage since the 2000 323i/328i, and the e36 had a real one before that...

Wow. Unreal. My X3 has it. I'm not going to buy a car that doesn't tell me if it is warm or not. Thank god the 135 has it or I would not be happy. Considering the long service times, I would think they would want people to fully warm up before putting the foot down.

If there's no temp gauge on the 128i, what's in that slot on the dash...ie where the 135i & 3-series have their temp gauges?

After reading your post, I stopped by Seattle BMW to see the 128i. The dash did seem a bit bare...oh well!

Off topic: I could only see 2 speakers in front & 2 in the back, assuming there's 2 woofers under seat, how do we get the 10 speakers stated in the brochure? I did listen to std stereo, was not real impressed. Any opinions...how was the audio while driving?

You are up late too. I did not listen to the sterio. I went standard on my x3 and wish I hadn't in some ways and in others its just fine.

I have an acura that I'm selling and I never cared on that car, because the car was not about the sterio for me, it was about the platform. I guess you could say I like to hear the motor more than my tunes.
