I know what you mean, I got the same feeling. I test drove (3) 135i's , one stick and two ATs. I know the car is a true driver's car but I may be too used to the refinement of the 3 series. I guess I'll try again and see if it was just an off day for me. I originally loved the interior of the "1", but after getting back into my 3-series the "1" felt cheap to me and when considering the price, $44K, I am having second thoughts and may look at the 335i again. No flames please, just one man's opinion The big thing I noticed and liked was how well it cornered, the car remained incredibly stable and completely flat through the corners. I am very wary of the AT, it exhibited a clunk when it came to a stop just like my 328xi. I absolutely loved the "m" steering wheel, it was truly a gem in the hands. I'll take a few more 1s for a spin and make a decision then. I am still undecided. |

While I was waiting to take a 135 for a test drive yesterday, a couple in their mid-fifities were taking delivery of a silver 128 Cabrio. They had walked in to the dealer two hours earlier to look at a 328, saw the 128 and fell in love. Bought it on the spot.
She was very open about using the "C" word to describe her new baby. I asked her to please stop or I was going to have to stop her from taking delivery. I'm pretty sure they thought I was nuts but I'm just an addict ; )

I honestly never thought the car was ugly.. nor did I think it was a lambo style car that would catch peoples eyes but then again how many of them are there...

I used the word cute because my gf and her friend thought it was the cutest car ever. Even my parents and sis thought it was cute.
Jeeze, you guys are all upset when the word "cute" is making the car less masculine or something |

The 135i exceeded my expectations in looks. Pictures just don't do the car justice. It looks like an angry bull dog ready to fight. Oh and if you think the 3 series is somehow superior...I suggest you drive a One if you haven't yet. In a head to head match up the 1 handles better and is just plain faster.
Do you want convenience? Or do you want to drive! As for me, I'll take the pocket rocket 1 and you can have the bloated 3.

By the way, you never said where you got a 05 M3 for $10k less than a 135i. Thats $25,000 for a 05 M3, one hell of a deal. Was it salvage? |

haha, My gf said it was "cute" also. I still reject the poll, it's obvious you tried to slide it in as a bit of a dig at the car.

CUTE............no, I don't think so.
I feel it's more tough looking than a 3 series. When I went to pick mine up however, it was the first "one" to arrive at my dealer. I did hear their (very cute, 20 something receptionist) walk by and say "Aww, that's cute".......So maybe "cute" is in the eye of the beholder. But I did cast a vote for #1 in the poll. And I also bought mine sight unseen as did many of us.

Dont get me wrong, the 135i is a great car. Just wasnt worth the 10k+ to me. Maybe when 1-2 years, when they are on the used lot, I will seriously consider one. It would make a perfect daily driver, but the driving experience isnt like the M3. The 135i is going to sell like HOT CAKES to younger folks in college or HS. I saw the 135i at the dealership for sticker MSRP @ $42 +tax. I bought my M3 for $32k + tax. Not salvage. |

Personally I just don't think that is what this car is for. If you are going to option it out, go with the 335i coupe. The perfect 1er, is 135i with sport package only, $36,675. Congrats on the M3, just don't get upset when kids beat you in their 335i's and 135i's. |

When I first saw the 135i I was walking up to it head on and it was parked next to an M3. The headlights did not look as bad as some might make them out to be, actually looks a little tougher, more rugged than the other smaller head lights.
Then I walked around the car, and saw the back...and though "Ew, that kinda looks awkward and out of proportion" I checked out the interior and it was very nice, I prefer simpler things and it was neat and clean, and the letherette was also nice. Before I left again, I wanted to check out that funky rear just to see how bad it really was...and it looked perfectly normal the second time around, for some reason. Also, I think "cute" is almost an inevitability with the 135i, I did first think it was cute, and several women looking at it also commented that it was cute. But its a manly cute |

Aww c'mon guys, with those big ol headlights, the car is kinda cute. Reminds me of
If this was 5 years ago, I would be all over the 135. And when I read about the car, I really want to love it. But after checking it out in person, I realized that at this point in my life, I need the extra space, and I want all of the luxury items that have no business being in a sport focused car like the 1. In short, I'm getting old |
