First I was then I wasn't now...

Ok, so I was #2 in line at BMW of Stratham in Stratham NH for the 135i. I was sooo excited. Should have been #1 but I procrastinated for a little bit and when I finally gave the $1000 it was spot #2.

But I really wanted to do ED so at least I was #1 for that.

Well, until BMW said the ED cars had to come out of allocation. The dealer then told me 'no' ED until the car "cools down".

So I said, "thank you but I'll take my $1000 back and not pay you MSRP"

I was bummed. Of course insult to injury was that I became unemployed.

However... Things are looking up... Job interviews are picking up, some investment property I have is started to get calls for showing, and Herb Chambers BMW in boston advertised a lease special $3800 down + lease fees + 1st month = $329/mo for a 135i.

I called them. They told me they'd do ED. I stopped in, talked a bit, was told they'd still do ED. I went in with my GF today. We test drove, I spec'd the car, put down $500 (yup not $1,000) and I am now awaiting a confirmation on an August 4th ED date.

Can I say ???

Thanks for listening and I'm BACK IN THE GAME!!!

The GF is a general dentist. She is booked like 7-9 months in advance. She took the first week in august for vacation like 9 months ago. We were planning to go to Europe for that week anyways, might as well time it with a new car...

BTW, the dealer can't say no on ED. Its not his choice. BMW NA will make him do it. dealer get $0 on ED just credit for sales incentives.

Sorry, but this is incorrect. It's the BMW Center's prerogative to use their allocations as they see fit. Many dealerships are choosing to not use their limited 1 series allocations for ED.

Normally, ED orders do not come out of their allocation, so it's an extra car they get commission on. This is not the case with M cars and the 1 series (and S Carolina cars).

You could be right. I'll double check with my source in Ohio. It's the old "friend of a friend". I've worked on/designed automotive and motor sports dealer incentive systems in the past. I got this contact from someone who worked for me before, but this would not be the 1st time us IT guys got it wrong.

i called the dealership you listed and i ordered my 135i 5 mins prior to reading your post, thank yo sooooo much for listing that lease special, they even said that they would ship it to my local bmw for free....
i put a 1000 dollar deposit and didnt receive a production number or conformation email? did you visit this dealership by chance?
and do you know if they had any allocations? when i asked him he said that my car would be there in 6-8 weeks...
just wanna make sure there legit?

I was at the dealer all afternoon. Their current allocation (from last month) is gone. 10 135's. They are getting their next allocation this week sometime.

I have the build sheet sitting in front of me but no production number for the car either. I'm not worried though. I'm not planning on getting the car until august and they'll likely get 2 more allocations between now and then. The deposit I put down just guarantees that I will have a car. It is up to them to make sure that I do.

I'm fully confident that I'll be all set.

Herb Chambers is the down-town BMW dealer in Boston. They sell a TON of cars and not the cheaper ones either!

This is true. The 1 series and M cars are coming out of the allocation.

Thus the dealer in NH didn't want to give me one of their allocated cars at ED price.

They just lost me as a customer. That means they lost the servicing of the 135i, the servicing of the 325xi my GF owns, and the occasional servicing of my two E30's (which are pristine and are serviced properly).

Not to mention that I won't be buying another car from them either.

If you're still around Munich August 5th, I'll see you there!

I don't know. But Herb Chambers gets a TON of cars (two BMW dealerships).

Also I believe you are locked in for their second allocation, which they are getting this week. Thus if they get that allocation and put the order in the car should be here in two months

My guy gave me the same bullshiet line.. I ordered on March 1st got a production number like 2 days later and was told I wld have the car by mid April... Then I find out from the 1800 number that my build date is not even till week 14 which is like the second week of April... uggh
So i won't see my car till maybe mid May... that sucks
