Blown turbo, what should I go with =(

Hi Folks,

I posted around and searched but couldn't find much that is specific to my situation.

Car is a 1m coupe with FBO. Car was stock turbos and the front wastegate is stuck so I am biting the bullet and replacing them.

The car is mostly a weekend car with some track days in the year (6-10 depending on schedule). To be honest, if it wasn't for the need to replace these, I wouldn't be here. My focus was going to be on cooling, suspension, brakes etc.

However, here I am. So I am thinking, this is going to be a pain to replace so should I go with something other than OEM while I have to do it? I don't need to hear any "do other things first" because I have to replace these anyways.

Candidates are:
RB Ones
Pure Stg 1
Dinan OEM +
OEM

I haven't been able to find many posts about these and road courses. Seems most people just do highway runs or drag strips. The environment is different. So when people talk about reliability, I can't really compare to 25 minutes a time of hard lapping.

Like I said, I don't have any power goals right now. Point was to master the car at given levels then go from there. But I guess one day? Sure it would be nice to be able to go maybe up to 400 or so WHP. I don't want to do these again if not needed.

Any thoughts?

Also would love to know what other things I should address while the subframe is out.

Thanks for the help everyone. Would love to hear from people who track the cars (not drag)

Since it's a 1M, I'd go OE. You can make great power (400 rwhp), retain the responsiveness and retain resale value. I'm guessing all your FBO parts could be reverted to stock, should you choose to sell your car, which would be a lot easier than swapping back to OE turbos.
If you don't care about resale, choose your poison.
Are you talking about the front or rear subframe?
Front - solid engine mounts?
Rear - you already have the 1M/M3 RSBs but you could swap those out for solids - same with diff bushes. I'd leave the stock sway bar. Anything else could be swapped at any time.
See my summary on bushes here: https://www.1addicts.com/forums/showpost.php?p=26144719

Just know that if you intend to pair these with aftermarket inlets, larger factory-style inlets have clearance issues with a CSF radiator installed. VRSF stock location inlets are pushed against the accessory belt in that combination, if you ever opt for the radiator.

I'm in this situation myself and cost is paramount to me, so I am opting for OE replacements. I would rather not experiment with stock frame upgrades to risk replacing again prematurely. I already run the stock turbos with upgraded hot side inlets, custom tuned to sustain more boost on the top end (~16 psi) on 93 octane (I'll probably supplement with some race gas on hotter days)

What is your setup? Are you using the CSF radiator with the OEM inlets? Or using the OEM radiator with larger inlets?

I am also leaning stock turbos as well, but also I am actually going to redo cooling and was planning on CSF radiator + silicone inlets (1.75). You are saying this combo is a no go?

I had VRSF stock-style silicone inlets that loop around the engine, and can plug into the stock airbox if you want. The inlet for the front turbo that ran around the front of the engine had the clearance issue, and I replaced that with a 'relocated' style inlet (and kept the stock style rear turbo inlet that looped over the bell housing). The relocated style inlets have a really short path that ends on the passenger side.

I had the CSF radiator with both set ups, but with the stock radiator you should expect no clearance issues with the factory style upgraded inlets.

To answer, CSF radiator and upgraded stock location silicone inlets are a no-go imo. Some have made it work, it seems the belt won't completely rub through the silicone and effectively self clearance. It's ugly, though, and good luck taking the fan out.

Interesting. I was really hoping to upgrade to a CSF radiator and use new inlets. Anyone else have this rubbing issue?
