Increased MPG with winter setup
Just thought I'd share an interesting result after recently mounting my winter setup. I have a 2011 N55 e82 with MSport and DCT. At 5200 miles I mounted 17/45/225 Michelin X-ice Xi2 on the Elbrus I02 I received from Tirerack. After putting roughly 200 miles on them, I took a drive from Cleveland to Cincinnati (250 miles). It was about 60 degrees F. No A/C engaged, and no super-aggressive takeoffs (on-ramps, etc.) My MPG average?
31.7mpg with 69.8mph average That's nearly 3mpg better than I was getting with similar driving circumstances on my stock RFTs. Oh, and I had my "spare" RFT in the trunk. I was impressed, and surprised. Not complaining, obviously, but am I missing something?

makes sense. A 225 square setup has less tire on the ground. Less area = less rolling resistance. Also 17" and non rfts are a lot lighter than the 261 M with the rfts.

I have the same tires for my M-Sport 128i and also noticed a significant increase in MPG last year.

The new Michelin tires are supposedly have the Green X technology that reduces rolling resistance and CO2 emission, so maybe their claim is actually true. just put PA3 on mine, so will see if gas mileage goes up too. nonetheless, very satisfied so far comparing with the stock RFTs.

I have 205 17s, and 235 18s. 7inch width vs 8.5inch.. It makes about 3 mpg difference.
