As you have likely discovered there are no non-RFT winter tires in the stock sizes. The fronts you mention are .4 inches taller and 3.4% slower on the speedo (assuming accurate and there is additional info on that issue) where speedo will show 60 when actual speed is 62.1mph. The rears you mention are .5 inches taller and 3.9% slow. I too have been investigating this same issue.
The common solution utilizing the stock wheels seems to be a "square" set up utilizing 225/40-18 on both the front and rear. The size difference is only .1 inches and 1.4% difference on the speedo. Using this set up there are multiple choices from Bridgestone, Dunlop, Michelin and Pirelli. I am leaning towards the Michelin PA3 with this square set up. |

Just did mine with Alpine Pilot PA3 225/40/18 for the front and 235/40/18 for the rear, did not want to do the square since planning to use the tires for the next car when my lease ends in 2012. Anyway, so far so good, comparing to the stock Bridgestone RFT, better traction, smoother ride with better shock absorption. the car seems accelerates faster, seems to be the best choice for the winter here in north jersey. garage told me that my stock tires are pretty worn after about 18k miles, which i was surprised at first then not so much after finding out a lot of people worn out theirs after only a year. In short, the stock RFT's suckness is now confirmed comparing with the PA3, highly recommend if not expecting to drive in deep snow.

On a stock suspension there should be no issues with rubbing at all with 225/40-18. I am sorry I can't help you with the tires. I too, have been looking for information on Pirelli winter tires. Unfortunately it seems most opinions are of the older compounds and tread design.
