Square winter setup

At last wheels are mounted and works perfect. I was asking allot will the "17 et47 8J 225/45 fit on 1er? Didn't get any answer. So I can tell now IT WORKS perfect, no rubbing, just in front tire is really close to strut.
BTW car feels much better with non RFT more quiet, more comfortable, no drag of steering wheel, car not jumping/loosing the grip on bumps. Wheels BMW OEM style 32 powder coated matt black, tires Dunlop 3D. sorry car is dirty and pics not the best quality
Anyway hope it will be useful info for some of you...

Good Information

Thanks for posting this. I just purchased style 103 rims 17x8 et47 also. I was certain the rears were ok but concerned about the front. I knew it would be close and thought was to go with a 215x45x17 to try to keep it a little further from the strut.

Tires

I believe he said Dunlop 3D was what he had. I am considering the General altimax.

I was thinking about 215 also but Dunlop 3D have just 225/45 and 205/50. Also 215 would be to narrow for 8J rim. If tire would touch the strut I was ready to add 3mm spacer, but it works w/o spacers.

Im running a 'square' winter setup on 17 x 7.5" rims with a 42mm offset with 225x45-17 tires, and they fit with plenty of room all around.

Your setup is even better, but it's dificult to find used wheels which is good for 1er.

Maybe you have some pics, interesting are the wheels sticking out with et 42
