Fitment Question regarding BMW Performance Suspension
I've searched but haven't been able to find an answer to my question. Also, apologies if this is better suited for the Suspension forum.
My question for those with the BMW Performance Suspension and stock wheels: What's the widest tire that will fit? I know a 225/255 setup will fit, and that's great...however a 235/265 setup would be greater |

A fellow forum member just made a thread a couple days ago with 235/265 Z1 combos on OE wheels.

I have the bmw performance suspension and im running lower offset (and wider) rims with 225 front and 255 rear and I have absolutely no problems. Honestly, I'm probably going to 235/265 when these wear out. Probably Hankook V12s again.

Good to hear. The V12's are on my list of tires to purchase as well. I'll most likely end up with the ExtremeContact DW's or the Z1 Star Specs, and it sounds like a 235/265 should fit fine without rubbing.

will the stock rims take a tire that wide? if they can, i don't foresee any rubbing problems with performance suspension.

Yes, read the link above. 235/265 will fit on the stock rims. I'm sure the tires are on the wider side of the spectrum for the wheels, but they should be fine.

when you increase the wheel width and wheel begins breeching the fender line, the tire shoulder shape is definitely something to considered when selecting a tire. the stock wheels are not wide enough for even a wide shoulder 235/265 to rub (unless of course you have spacers). if you really wanna play it safe, you can purchase a tire with a slim shoulder. I believe hankook and toyo are known for this. Others may chime in on this as well.
