conti DWS first snow review

so I just got back in from a 20 miles foray into the snow. we got around 3" of snow today. drove through a variety of conditions from loose snow to packed snow to slush. the tires didn't miss a beat. very impressed with the traction. car did struggle up a 10 deg incline a bit but after I disengaged the DTC it just lunged forward and clawed right back up. so I would give these tires a definite thumbs up for anything up to 5-6 of snow. anything over that it may be a bit dicey. however reducing the tire pressure may help with deeper snow. currently I am running 42 in the front and 40 in the back. very happy with this purchase! kudos to conti

Glad to hear the A/S tires worked for you.

Keep us posted on or if you encounter deeper snow. I'm sure you will still power through!

Thanks for the confirmation. I have that same setup for winter and last year I went thru about 3-4" a few times and they worked fine. Better in dry snow, just ok enough on slushy snow and ice. They should be adequate for areas that don't get lots of snow. They are ok for non inclemental conditions, but they do squirm some in power delivery and roll over in agressive handling situations. All and all I am happy with them. Prefer my summer setup with CS7s and Goodyear F1 Assymetrics.

I agree they should perform better with less pressures for bad weather, but in the dry the higher pressures would be fine. I am running stock 36/38 psi. Gives a more comfortable ride but a little less in handling. Even so I probably will keep the pressures closer to stock.

Thanks for sharing.

Yeah we also got about 3 inches today and I'm pleased with them. Decent in slush which was what we had at 8am, but better in dry soft snow.

Yeah it squirmed a bit in slush. The slush gets stuck in the grooves. Had a little fun oversteering with opposite lock through a few turns
