This is a nice airbox.... Not gonna gain much but still.. would look pretty sweet in the engine bay.

That is pretty sweet looking. You're right won't gain much but it will look and sound nice. I'm guessing it's pricey though.

That particular airbox tends to crack quickly at the mounting points. There was one recently in the FS section that demonstrated this pretty well.

I used to think that, but came to the conclusion that I just didn't like cheap CF applications like that.

Not sure where to post it. Thought I would ask here first:

See Pg 18 - Wheel hubs : http://www.1addicts.com/goodiesforyo...le_Manual1.PDF

Does that mean, if one swaps to e9x rear hubs & brake rotors, that one can run wheels with lower offsets like et35-40 with out fender work, like 17's from APEX... ? ?
I dont think 328i parts are that expensive, there are OEMs for hubs, and rotors can be had for normal price.

Support:
In fact the e87 130i has a hub from the 335i (im sure rear 335i brakes & rotors are direct swaps), and hense why 135i hubs are needed to make rear 135i rotors work on a 130i with 135i rear calipers/rotor.

Alternatively, an e90 335i guy used aluminum spacers for caliper to fit 135i rear calipers and a f10 330x20 rear rotor to his e9x offsets. So with e9x hubs that spacer may be needed for a 135i, to make the f10 rotor fit.
http://www.e90post.com/forums/showth...ht=135i+brakes
I doubt there is a rotor from 130i or e90 Xi that would fit. Although a e46 330i rotor might...its size is 320x22 vs 135i's 324x22

EDIT::
MOST cost effective solution is for 128i:
The rear 130i caliper is currently found on ...drum roll ... the 128i already, including the caliper carrier :O
just need 328i Hubs and a Rotor of same 128i size, which retains handbrake is probably found on the e9x 328/323/325i non XI ( smaller hand brake)

For 135i guys (and those with 135i calipers) it gets more difficult:
Appropriate hubs probably the 130i/335i hubs for 135i's (for 128i the 328i would work)
Caliper mounting spacers to use F10 brake rotors(sacrificing/ modding the dust shield).
OR alternative rotors, which are compatible in size like e46 330i. Maybe z4 forums have insight, one person used x3 rotor machined to fit

EDIT 2::
This theory is confirmed, a 335i rotor vs 135i rotor has about 1 cm less height in the rotor hat. Therefore a similar size F10 rear rotors should work for 135i calipers. This also confirms that 128i vs 328i is the same 1 cm delta, but here there is easier match for rotors.

Result::
We can now fit Apex 17 8.5 et40 without pull or rolls - but this changes track width slightly over no hub mod. But it should keep it near stock OEM Wheel track levels. Or Other 17's 8.5's with et30 offset with the same pull/roll that a et40 previously required - this path will not change track width.

BMW did this probably to make the coupe handle better than e87 when using the same wheels across the 1 series, thus making the e87 wheels work on the e82 better, as if they had a 10 mm spacer on each side. The hub mod now will allow e82 to use more rear wheel options - possibly some e9x wheels, especially the lower offset wheels, which will not change the Track width ( the offsets compensate). So say hello to more track wheel options and more Concave rear wheels. Keep in mind this would compromise Apex 18' rear 1series fitment, would need 10mm spacers

I will write this up with part numbers and post it in the Wheel section

I have refined my post - looking for any insight or flaws in the logic.

Otherwise the result makes 128i wheel fitment issues disappear, the mod is so simple. 135i calipers people arent as lucky, but at-least this time the 128i/125i has an advantage .

About to pull the trigger on a 2009 manual 128i that has done about 35,000 miles. Has decent amount of rubber and new discs and rotors.

Should I buy the warranty with it?

New rotors at 35k?!

Do the lifters tick at idle? How does the clutch feel? Test drive and make an evaluation on how the previous owner drove and cared for the car. Search for any service records. Then make your decision, I typically wouldn't but depends on the shape of the car.

I had an inspection done on it, it's in NC, and I am not.

Seems like everything checked out fine.

I'm leaning towards skipping it.

Has anyone had large problems after a few years of owning theirs?

60k miles on mine with no major issues. I had an o2 go bad but that was related to me screwing up the o2 locations and header install issues. When i did the DISA manifold swap i developed a misfire so replaced my coil packs and plugs just for peace of mind since the previous owner had different brand plugs in each bank. Honestly only 1 coil pack was bad i didn't really need to replace the other 5.

2008 115k KM no problems, just oil / air filter changes, recalls minors, and other liquids. Nice reliable car. Hence why were all here happy to smell our own gas fumes most of the time.
Plan for water pump/ thermostat and Vanos repairs though. Thats all

my car has a very annoying buzzing noise (white noise) coming from one of the speakers (or maybe the head unit??). I have to turn up the radio or else it annoys me. When I turn off the car, it still makes the noise.

That's pretty common and is the head unit.

Ya it sucks because I had my original head unit replaced 2 years ago since the radio had dead pixels when it was hot outside. Now I am 1 year out of warranty and this just started

Dealership work has a two year warranty on it, so if you're just under two years, it will also be free.

OK, I am not so smart.
I read these LSD posts and don't see anything about 128 MT fitment?
Can some one splain it to me?

don't worry about the rotors at 35K. It depends on what you say to the mechanic, and who the mechanic is as to whether or not they get changed. Some mechs just see BMW$$$$$$$ and change the rotors every pad change or more.

My son just got his changed by the mechanic -they were 20K old- cause he told the mech he had a slight pedal pulsation.

128 wheeloffset

I have been searching for the wheel offset for a bmw 128 here and elsewhere. I have the M package with staggered wheels, for winter use I imagine a square set up would be better.

So when I see some one has wheels for sale I can't evaluate if they will fit.

Does anyone have cross reference chart posted? I have seen where the 3 series wheels will not fit.
