What!? The headlights are completely unchanged which makes me completely disappointed. Isn't the 1 due for a LCI by now?

The 1M falls flat for me. It's basically a 135 with a tune, LSD, and some aesthetic changes. I wonder if the M Division even touched it.

Every M car gets its own unique attention, which includes its own unique engine. This thing needs a naturally aspirated inline 6. Look at the E46 M3, you're telling me they couldn't take the 3.2L engine and improve upon it? (efficient dynamics, right?). The 1 M is boring. They should have just called it the 135i w/ competition package and charged an extra 5k for it.

I don't think their sales are going to look very good on this one. If anything, more 135's will be sold as a result.

Well, if you haven't paid attention, Scott26 had said that the 1M gets the S55 engine (M Division), which will be the basis for the next M3...is that not "unique" enough for you?

Also, this is more than a tune, LSD, ans some aesthetic changes. For the record, all non-M's don't have a LSD, so by your logic, the M3, M5, M6, aren't that much differen from the regular strength models

This car incorporates the M3 suspension, LSD, brakes, and possible other bits. Plus, the chances are S54 will not meet the required specs for emissions, Dr. Segler already had said that the way for M Division is Turbo'd low rev engines...

Now, with this brief, I'm sure that the 1M will not fail to deliver, everytime someone has doubted it, comes more info that it is proving itself, just like these pics, and video.

You may not be impressed, and that is your perogative. But methinks you really are...

Don't forget better brakes, wider track and tires, suspension from the M3, quad exhaust, redesigned front end with bigger air scoops, modified N55 that will be the basis for the next M3 engine....

What else do people want to realize this is a real M car?

The sharing of bits is a GOOD thing, because it will save the company money and make the cars cost less....

The parts shown in the video look as they should, or better. Nobody really expected a full Monte striptease this time. Thanks for the movie and the photo of the LSD.

Looks like worse brakes to me. It's nice to see the larger rotors from the M3, but the M3's calipers (as seen here) are those lame 1-piston units (regular 135i has better 6-piston Brembos with inadequate rotors).

Please consider that the six pot Brembos are not suited for track use, while the one piston M3 brakes at least hold up okay. BMW isn't known for good track brakes, but either way, number of pistons isn't a good indicator of ultimate performance. Proper cooling ducting to the brakes, pad material and overall system capacity means a lot more than piston count. Simply look at the track forums to see multiple examples of the poor quality of the 135i brakes, or look at other forums to see how poorly Brembo calipers on 370z's, Evo's and STi's fare under track usage.

I was thinking this same thing.

I'm going to reserve judgment until the full reveal. I really like the sibal rendering (better than what I've seen thus far) but I'm sure it will grow on me. I would love to see the full front quarter panel.
