Hoosier R6
Has anyone here tried Hoosier R6? It appears to be the only semi-slicks available in 245/35ZR18. How does it compare to the likes of Advan 048 and Pilot Sport Cup? Is this tyre road legal for driving to the track and back? Thanks.

It is very similar to the other two tires you mention. It might have a little better grip than both of those but it does not wear quite as well, if that is a concern. Gill

If you intend to Autocross I would get A6s instead, the R6s will not warm up enough.

I ran the HooHoo A6 last season in autocross. Stickiest damn tire I've ever driven, with equally short lifespan. The R6 should last a little longer being more for the track than autocross. The R6 will have significantly more grip than the two tires you mentioned. Be advised that Hoosiers being a lightweight race tire tend to give up air over time (no inner liner, I was told). Went to remount the race wheels on the e36 M3 after the winter off-season and all 4 were flat--freaked me out.

Significantly more grip than the Pilot Sport Cup and A048? Really? Wow that would be pretty incredible! A Pilot Sport Cup will last me 3 track days, how many will these last though?

It's the hot DOT R-compound tire here in the U.S., Way. Nothing better except a true race slick (which is illegal on the street). I haven't driven a PS Cup, but the A048 I have and it is not in the same league.

If you only get 3 days out of the PSC, you probably won't make it through a day with the Hoosiers. I've found the PSC to be the longest wearing track tire I've tried, although they are still subject to loss of grip due to heat cycling. |

Damn! Oh well never mind. I am willing to give this one a go and see what happens. The thing is, I have a lot of options locally for 245/40/18 such as RE55s, but nothing in 245/35/18. Given how marginal the clearance is going to be, that extra height in the tyre may give me issues. So let me try this one out first and if I last 1 track day out of it, so be it.
