Cylinder 5 misfire
Good Day,
I have a cylinder 5 misfire… I’ve swapped out spark plugs and my coils are B58’s, which are also new(3 months old)… I swapped out spark plugs and coils for cylinder 5 ad the problem persists in cylinder 5… My injectors are index 12’s… I am considering swapping injectors between 5 and 6 to see if the problem follows… I have not done a walnut blast in some years… It only happens during WOT(was happening after my 3rd revision with wedge tuning, they told me to swap plugs, I did and it’s still there…we finished with revisions 5 but again, the misfire is still there in cylinder 5 at WOT) Any suggestions? |

Cylinder 5 injector…
Index 12… Looks like it might be bad(maybe due to carbon buildup)… Also looks like their is oil on the injector! I was gonna pull injector 6 and swap but I was thinking I would get a new index 12, code it and then do a walnut blast… Thoughts? |

I was able to look down into the injector hole…
Definitely a ton or carbon build up… Might be a better idea to do a walnut blast first before replacing the injector… Unless you guys think the injector is bad? |

After reinstalling the Injector and torque things things to spec…
I took the car for a couple of pulls… I would misfire around 3000-4500 rpm… The misfire has suddenly vanished… I did about 3-4 pulls(2 from 3rd gear and 2 from 4th gear)… Scheduled a walnut blast for friday(it’s been about 5 years since my last)… I’m assuming that it is the likely cause of the misfire… |

Interesting. I am going through exact same thing - misfire on #5. Code sets, but goes away when restarted. Was able to repeat a couple of times with aggressive throttle from 1500 rpm in 3rd or 4th.
Coil was moved (not replaced) and have not been able to trigger the misfire after that (only three days). Eight years/40K mi since walnut blast (which cured the last bout - after replacement of plugs/coils/injectors). |

Yeah, my coils are new B58’s, plugs are new and injectors are index 12’s…
I did any other pull this evening(log for Ken at wedgeperfomance for my final tune revision)… And no misfire, car felt way more powerful…felt really good… I think the walnut blast should do th trick! |
