You guys do realize this is really a last going away goodbye gift on the E82. It was never suppose to be a revolutionary M product going far and beyond 135i. This is why BMW has done the weird marketing campaign as it had in the last 2 month. Well and now M division is headed by a marketing guy.
But if you forget 135i for a second, this is a substantial car in its own right. For someone shopping for a new 1 coupe right now, 1M makes more sense than a 135i.

They could of made this car so much better this is not an M just an overpriced is model. Same damn motor other than a tune upgrade which is the most disappointing. I can't belive they still have the same hood, trunk, and seats. I dont see a reason to upgrade for those that already have a highly modified 135i it would be a downgrade.

I understand the creation of this car, like this car, and will maybe one day buy this car. I am not hating on this car, and if I feel a bit disappointed in output don't get so offended. Some people on here get so "butt hurt" by comments on something that is not even out yet for the public. If you actually built this car, like optioned it so that in the end this was the end result, I could understand the offense. But you didn't do this, a corporation did this within the course of a year or two and I understand that this car is towards the end of its lifecycle. Why can't I be a little disappointed on the fact that the engine (which most people take a lot of pride in) is 90% the same as the one on an "iS". Handling is a wonderful thing, but everyone who is harping on this wake up and smell the coffee. This car is a sports car and though you will take it to the track its going to have to help you commute there. For the twisty bits this car will be awesome, especially for tight autocross courses, but on tracks with long straights I'd like a little bit more grunt. If you don't like power go and buy yourself a Mini JCW. That way you can have all the handling you want and not so much power. Not trying to be an ass, but most of the comments directed to other users are very much in the same manner. I'm a 1Addict, I love BMWs, I love the 1 series, I love M cars, but this particular M doesn't get my blood pumping in the same way an E30-E92 M3 would. For those who forgot this is a forum and opinion is going to be given, don't get so mad when someone speaks their mind.

There was 49 between the E30 and E36 EU + two cylinders. There was 12 between the E36 and E46. There was 70 between the E46 and E92 + two cylinders........ What is so bad with the 30+hp using the same engine? We know it is going to be detuned. Plus this is the base design for the new M3 engine......... T |

I like these little touches that separate it from the 135i. This thing is definitely a looker.

I like the improvements although the front bumper is meh. I understand why they did that. I would get this if I were 5-10 years younger. I also need something my wife can drive (DCT) so I can keep my 330Ci.
I don't think the M brand is all about horsepower. I think of an M as a race car that you can drive on the street. I would like to see more of a HP difference between the iS and M though.

If there's an M car for midgets, this is it
Joking aside, the front is nice. I'm glad they fixed the curved side skirt profile but the rear bumper is too aggressive. Just not my style. |

Anyone see this? Says M Twin Power Turbo for the 1M, unlike the twin turbo of the N54.. anyone else think that seems a little strange?
Engine Technology 1M/M Twin Power Turbo 135i/BMW Twin Turbo
