The 6MT 128i will be a cult classic. Not sure if it will appreciate. But street cred will be there for good examples, both stock and tastefully modified

I picked mine up at just the right time and I'll keep it as long as parts are available.

Granted I've never driven one, but I think with some proper mods, this is almost as good as an e30 M3 in terms of the driving experience.

It's nice to see these videos. I've been saying for years the 128 is the new E36M3. Assuming you are doing the obligatory power and suspension mods. Mine outperforms my old M3 hands down. Bulletproof on street and track.

Took me 4 months to find a good one 4 years ago. I can't imagine how hard it is to find today. Maybe 1 in 10 are manual which is a shame.

I've been trying to get him to review mine. It's quite a bit more done-up for track work than the one in the video.

6-speed 128i's are going to be a cult classic someday. Probably not valuable, but definitely a cult classic. Along the lines of E46 ZHP's, I'd bet.

Don't worry, it's seen a few autocross courses and SCCA Track Nights in America.

Exactly right. End of an era, NA straight 6, rwd, hydraulic steering, manual trans. - you'll never see a car like this again.

Why?? Lol
This guy in hat is annoying as hell and portrays himself as an expert but sounds dumb many times.
I will never want him anywhere close to my car

You said right about the 128i 6MT.
I drove 4 e36 M3's and could never fall in love. But first drive in base 128i was impressive, especially with this amazing tight hydraulic steering.

Only thing that tempts me to replace it with is an E9x M3 6 spd but I kind of need a car for winter so not sure what will come first and despite that I'd still feel guilty about selling the 128i 😌

e93 M3 is amazing.
But for daily driving I find these cars little tough to drive at lower speeds. 128i you push all the time everywhere and use everything it has to offer.
Honestly speaking if I've to choose a daily driver, I will go for 128i any day.

I actually agree with you but I'd say based on my experience with my Z4M I'd have to hazard that the E46 M3 is probably more the small car sweet spot. You can work the entire rev range, get enough usable power and low end torque for around town and not exceed speed limits too rapidly. My 911 on the other hand gets out of hand fast and I know for damned sure any more power would just be dangerous license wise on the street.

The 128i yeah you're working it but without mods you don't get the sound or engine torque responsive related to throttle. What it does have is more modern tech, comfort, driver focused cabin, etc.

Haven't driven the 135i in a while but I imagine would just have too much turbo punch to work the car out to its limits on the street but I'll try one next opportunity I get and report back on thoughts then.

You said It right
I actually drive Z4M coupe daily and love it.
Tracked it for 1-2 year and then realized what I actually needed. So I bought track prepped, stripped in the back, 128i. I had to do exhaust mods and wiht no insulation between cabin n engine...I can hear the engine sound which is enough loud and beautiful.
