AIRBAG light is ON! Anyone have tried the bypass; any advice?

I need to get rid of the RED AIRBAG LIGHT & SEATBELT SYMBOL ON MY DASHBOARD even when the seatbelt buckled...I know it's the occupancy airbag mat sensor under the passenger seat. Not welling to pay a lot of money to change the seat or get the seat teared down for new one. I've seen videos people using the bypass. What I understood that it's designed to tell the computer that the seat is always occupied and seatbelt always on.

I would like to hear from 1er about their experience which one to buy and requires NO or minimal coding??

Thanks

If you google "seat occupancy sensor bypass bmw" you will get some options - at least I did when I did it. There were three you-tubes and various vendors offering hardware for $20 or less. I have no idea whether they work.

I gave Zola, my daughters golden-doodle, a ride in my e88 when visiting them a couple weeks ago. Zola didn't know how to fasten her seat belt and the car mostly ignored her but did start dinging us at one point. So I buckled the buckle. Not your problem, but it was the only time I can think of that this light went on for me.

I do the same with my 50lb pit. Just plug the belt in and forge about it.

Then that's not an issue with your occupancy sensor. It's an issue with your seat positioning sensor.

Not sure if this applies to all airbag connections, e.g. the side post airbags which I want to delete, have not done it yet. You think this would work?

What's the seat positioning sensor? My car was at the dealership and that's what they have on the paper they gave me. Occupancy passenger mat sensor.

If it's an occupancy sensor then you should be hearing a continuous time. The seat positioning sensor is a small sensor that sits on the inside seat rail, it's very time but it's connected to the female side seat belt adapter (the thing you snap the seat belt into, whatever that's called).

That's the issue I have now, I swapped m3 seats and forgot to swap the position sensor over, no I have an airbag and seat belt light, but no chime. When I have my 50lb pitbull in the passenger seat, I get a chime, that's why I doubt it's your occupancy sensor (unless you have a chime).

This shouldn't be an expensive visit to an indy shop, at least to find out what the actual issue is. It would very likely be free at plenty of places depending on location.

No problemo my friend, it's the piece with the screw sticking out and light shining on it here. This is the inner seat rail (the photo looks to have uploaded upside down, these website are odd). The female side seatbelt adapter (the thing you click in to) is right next to it, it's tough to see with the seat fully in the car. You need a torx 52 I believe to remove the four bolts that hold the seat in place, it's very easy. make sure you leave the battery connected until you loosen these four bolts so you can easily move the seat to access the bolts (if you have power seats). disconnect the battery after you have the four bolts out to take a look at the sensor.

Again, I'd suggest you go to an independent mechanic, but if you are trying to DIY, this pic should help.

It would be nice to know where in the USA you are so maybe someone local could recommend a good local BMW indy!

I found something helpful with the part number, but what to check for connection before replacing I don't think mine is damaged.
