Ordered a 2010!! SINGLE TURBO

Hello Everyone, I just ordered my new 135 today in Ontario,I want to take delivery of my car late winter,so the dealer placed the delivery for a Feb1 st production date.I have been advised (and asked to keep it confidential) that my car will be equiped with the new single turbo unit!!!
I had hoped to have the car with the DINAN package on delivery, now I wonder if this will be possible?
Any thoughts?

Damn, I can't decide if the single turbo will be better or not. Will be more efficient for sure, thottle-body-less throttle.

I'd rather have twins.

Zero % chance of getting DINAN on that as you'll likely have one of the first single snails on the continent. Congrats on the updated lump though.

I think there would be more turbo lag in a single turbo setup..

Not for the usa for sure

All 1's and 3's for the US through all of 2010 will be getting the N54 according to BMW press releases, the n55 is only going to be in the 5(and not all models of 5's even) for the US. There is no mention of them putting the 55 in any 1 or 3 series gas vehicle anywhere. You might want to check with the dealer, as far as I know Canada gets the same products as us for gas based cars anyway, they probably made a mistake, it would be real strange for them to switch engines several months in a production year, all 1 and 3 brochures would need to be changed and all existing dealer stock would be rendered potentially unsavory for sales.

Well the HPFP would tend to support that claim.

Since when is one small turbo harder to spool than 2?
Valvetronic in that engine is nice. torque comes faster.. 1000rpm faster

Hah well I think that just goes under poorly engineered. I meant based on power output (twin vs single) and even how they redesigned the n52 with lighter and higher quality components.

Not spreading rumers !! When I signed the deal they told me for the Feb production they would be going with the single Turbo unit. They explained that it would be a larger turbo with even less lag than the twin turbo set-up.
It would be the same as the new 535.I think the manager of a dealership would be in the know, before the general public.

You sure the production date isn't 4/1/2010? I didn't think the N55 was going to hit the 1 series until the F20?

Weird... this is the first I've heard of the single turbo unit, out of the 535 GT of course

It is not variable vaned. It is a twin scroll single turbo.

That is just broken thinking. Typically, a single larger turbo will take longer to spool fully. Now, that fact cannot be confirmed with the N55 since we haven't seen any real world experiences with it.
