Too many of you guys need some manners. What possible motivation would the original poster have to bullshit?

regardless, it seems whatever information the op had, it's coming directly from his sales guy.

Larger turbo= biger turbo lag

I ordered my car also. When you place an order, you get details of the vehicle you are purchasing...All I'm saying is that until I see that order, I dont believe it. There is too much crap spread around here and nothing should be presented until there are "facts and data".

i understand a lot of crap gets spread.

I went to order a 2010 with all the options I wanted and my rep went to put the order in and said he talked with BMW and it will be a 2011 at that time and he confirmed it...

I cannot fully complete the order because pricing and options are not even out yet. So you are correct about facts and everything as far as writing. I have stated all of these facts.

I am hopeing all the rumors of a M1 or 135is will be true for 2011 and I could order one of those but who knows at this point. I am sure information in "writing" lol will be out soon.

cheers

If you haven't gotten pricing or options then you haven't really placed an order. What you've done is given the dealership money to hold a spot in line to place an order.

I was in the same situation before the 1 came out a couple years ago, and passed on my spot when I saw the pricing.

If you don't have a final price, option list, and order ID, then you do *not* have an order.

*ok I have held a spot.... but unless anything drastic in pricing changes I am buying one.

I went to place an order with every option I wanted and it could not be processed for a delivery at the time I am wanting to pick it up.

Do you guys seriously just look for people to not be 100% accurate and in writing to prove some kind of point??

All I was trying to say is that I gave a deposit to get a 135i and my rep said it would be a 2011

you can call it what ever you want.

I agree

I would have to agree with the statement about manners, so that is why I would refrain from name calling and such.

But that being said, no one in the US can currently order a 2011 1 Series on BMW's system and according to current production allocations, 2010 1 Series are being built and allocated through Sept of 2010. It may be true that 2011's will come with N55's but you are not getting one here in the first half of 2010.

A dealer can take as many orders and deposits as they want, and promise or speculate what they want but they are not going to make BMW produce a car before they are scheduled to. I did not personally look at screens for anything but 1's so I don't know if it's true or not that 3's will be coming earlier in the year as previously stated.

There are a few other dealers on this forum, anyone else seeing what I saw or are you seeing something different?

You obviously need to research a little more on the twin scroll design BMW are using. It has been reported to have LESS lag than the twin turbo setup. Also it has better fuel efficiency.

Maybe the title of the thread should have read "Planning on ordering a 2010 and hopefully it has a single turbo"

For those doubt BMW's half model year changes, don't forget that the E90 came as a 2006 model in April/May of 05. And a similar thing happened with the switch of the E39 5 series to the E60.

I personally am looking to pick up a 1 late spring early summer, and hope the 135 does come with the N55. I’d love to have the same power as my 335 with better fuel economy.

FWIW I asked my dealer if BMW were introducing the N55 next year to the 135i. The dealer contacted the national BMW product manager. He said BMW had 'no comment' on the matter. Which basically means something is up!

BMW said N55 will go into larger touring cars. 5 and 5GT so far..
Z4Si was just announced with uprated N54... 330hp
740i for US was announced and it's going to be N54... 315hp..
There is currently no application of N55 with manual transmission....
Certifying new engine in 1 series would cost BMW millions in crash testing certification/etc....
Most of the time dealers are full of it and know far less than most of us who frequent this board and actually learn lots of great info..
E92LCI will be announced shortly.. My money on N54 from Z4si.. 1 supersport will probably get similar engine.
EVO announced 1M possibility as 400hp TWIN turbo engine..

I believe BMW is coming out with a 135Si - same setup as the roadster.
Aka the uprated N54... 330hp engine.

Some of you guys are harsh. The above poster is correct. The day he tried to place his order... we received a bulletin from BMWNA stating that the model year would switch to 2011 with March production. Based on his desired delivery date... a 2010 would not be possible. That said, the notice was not entirely specific as to which cars were NOT changing over, so we are still obtaining final information. I cannot confirm which engine will be in the car.

Another point

On the flip side, he really can't lose. If he get a 2010 he still gets the specials related to those cars... if he gets a 2011 he gets a year newer car. Win/ Win for him
