It's my experience that 'most' salespeople don't know squat about squat and it isn't untill the head office of that country has given official word that they do know something.
I ordered my 09 135i with the new iDrive before they even knew it was going to be in there. I knew it was going to be there because users on here had purchased and taken photos. But it wasn't for AGES until the could 'confirm' it. Let's wait till someone has actually ordered and has proof. |

original poster here!
Was just informed by my dealer today that they will have to place my order this week, instead of Feb 1st b/c they are shutting down production for the 1 for the month of Feb. He gave me the option of delaying my order until Mar 1st,but informed me that, the car will be a 2011,and cannot gaurentee the finance rates. So..I have decided to place the order early so that I can have the car delivered with the N-54 as opposed to the N-55 that will come in the 2011,this way I can have the car delivered with the DINAN retune. If I delayed the order untill Mar 1st,who knowes how long it would take Dinan to come out with their tune? Wish me luck |

What would you do?
I have my 135 on order (only 2 weeks ago) with scheduled delivery some time in late Jan or early Feb..... $1800 off sticker plus $1,500 holiday cash and 3.9% 60 month financing negotiated as my incentive to stick with my deal.......
I have another car I can drive so to wait for the 2011 would not be too difficult, especially if the 2011 will have some performance mods....not available on 2010. I am also coming in under my budget for the 2010.......so even if I pay more for the "possible" performance mods.....the 2011 will offer that is not a big concern (but certainly part of the equation). On the plus side for the keeping the 2010, I am VERY excited about the 2010 and would rather have the car sooner than April, but I know I will regret not waiting if the 2011 has some performance mods not avaiable...........So my question for you fellow 1 addicts........is the 2011 worth waiting for.........? HELP from me make the right choice! |

How many people and how many times we have to tell you that 1 will not get N55 in a few months?

so far that engine is only mated to dct and according to BMW too much torque for manual to handle.. LCI e92 engine might give us more information.. |

What is this lag that people talk about.
Does the N54 lag? Maybe you should check your motors, because i see full boost before 2k RPM. How much more lag can you reduce? might as well make the 135 a diesel.

regardless of how little the n54 lags (compared to other turbo applications), it still has less throttle response than a n/a motor, and a slight bit of lag is present if you look for it.

If you were being nit picky about it then yea, but for a daily driver that handles great and has a lot of power, the response is virtually identical to that of my 400 hp 5.0 mustang N/A. I just dont see how you could probably improve response, it already has littly itty bitty turbos and variable valve timing with DI, any more improvement would be moot IMO. Again, just my opinion, i respect yours though

I would not wait for the 2011, there have been subtle changes to the 1 series for 2010, (side mirrors, , HPFP improvements, etc. )that should make it a very reliable sports car. The N55 (if and when it comes to the 1-series for the USA) would be all-new with it's own unique problems the first year.....I would go with the car as it is made now. Besides, the 1-series isn't a big seller in the US, why would they bother to change the engine and do all that re-tooling at the factory if they don't have to? They will probably wait until the 2013 or 2014 next-gen 1-series to use the N55 unless US emissions require it, wouldn't you think?
