Have you guys checked the boat schedules to see what likely candidates you are to get on or may have already sailed on?

If I'm not looking at the wrong schedule, there are boats leaving the 20th and the 22nd for Port Hueneme, CA - due to unload on Sept 18th and 23rd, respectively.

Does anyone know if deliveries to Seattle (or pacific northwest in general) also go to Port Hueneme or is there another port?

I'm pretty sure that cars going up to Seattle and Pacific Northwest still go through Port Hueneme as that's the only west coast vehicle processing center, even though sometimes the boats stop in Tacoma after Port Hueneme.

There is a sticky-ed thread in this forum for Shipping and Tracking with tons of info on how to check the boat schedules and so on. I'm not sure if I'm doing it right, however

Good call - the website and even the 800# are always behind

go here, click track cargo and enter your VIN

http://www.2wglobal.com/www/WEP/index.jsp

There is a chance that your car shipped on another line besides W+W, but this will be a good place to start

The only caveat is that it seems to take 3-4 days sometimes for the 800# and even the W+W cargo tracking to show you're on there once you're even on a boat, so you can't rule out a particular boat until a few days later. Of course, you can try your sales person a couple days after a boat sails and they should be able to tell whether you're on there.

I think that part of the wait might be the worst and most unnerving.

Yep, this is right. My vessel docked in California where they put on all the 'IS' stuff then it gets train or trucked to Seattle.

I seem to recall a way to decode your VIN from your production number but I can't find the thread...

Ya, I came up with or discovered that trick accidentally and posted about it. It has something to do with on the bmwusa site by going to either edit or delete that car from your vehicles, and then it shows you the vin or last 7 of the vin and asks you, are you sure?

You can then use one of those vin decoders to see everything on your car, etc.

Ah that does it! Thanks. Looks like "Adaptive Headlights" are listed for my car, despite me not ordering the "Automatic High Beams" option - perhaps these two are not the same thing. My production date is 8/12/13, Woo!

[EDIT] That's the day after my birthday, so my car and I can celebrate together

Adaptive headlights are standard on all 135s. That's what has the headlights turn around a corner as you steer to the left or right. So, that's different than the auto high beams which just turns on the high beams automatically.

If you've never had adaptive headlights, they're quite useful at night going around bends and weird to see them move and reflect off a wall or something as you pull in and out of spaces in a garage. That may also be what "blinks" when you turn your car on as the lights go down, then up to level.

Ah, very cool. I don't have those on my E90 so I'm excited to see how they work.
