Does it make sense to order @ month end?
Normally I'm a guy who loves to buy a car at the end of the month because dealers have incentive to make better deals.
But is this true when ordering a car as well? I know dealers get hit with carrying costs for cars on the lot at the end of the month but this wouldn't apply to an ordered car. I imagine there are monthly targets the dealers are trying to hit but has anyone been able to leverage them into a better deal? |

Interesting question. I am not sure. I would think the best deal is something that is in their inventory/on the lot, followed by a dealer trade and then lastly an order. Not sure when you order if the sale is booked at time of order and time of delivery? My thought it is its booked at time of delivery, since that is when money is changed hands and/or paperwork signed. So, they probably aren't carrying it the way the would if it were on their lot. My $0.02.

Same rules do not apply. I see that you're in CT. Are you in Fairfield County? If so, I have a great contact.

I live in Cheshire (so I've been dealing with North Haven and its been pretty painful) and work in Hartford. I visited New Country at lunch on Friday and found the guy easy to deal with. I grew up in Fairfield County though.

I would think end of month deals apply to current on lot inventory.

great question, a ca will be much less likely to give you the time needed to order your new BMW at the end of the month. also a sales manager is likely in the mind set to move a few more cars and will be less agressive on an order because they have likely made a few "short" deals at the end of month. ca's are more interested in working deals on cars that are in stock and can be delivered by the end of the month thus affecting their pay plan. my best advice would be to order a car when the dealership is the least busy. durning the week in the morning at the begenning of the month is the best time.

I agree that the the credit for the sale on an ordered vehicle doesn't happen until its delivered meaning you're not likely to get a better deal @ month end. I bought mine 1/25so I know this first hand.
But oddly enough they had a 2011 leftover that I expressed a mild interest in if the price was right but they made little effort to steer me in that direction while I was ordering my 2012. And buying that 2011 definately would have been a sale in January so who knows what really motivates them. |
