Talking 135i european delivery just weeks away!

I have decided that I have finally reached the end of the "drive it 'till the wheels fall off" journey in my '02 24v vr6 GTI. I'll meet my new 135i in Munich on Feb. 22. AAAHHHHHHHH!!!!!!!!!!!

ED was awesome.
PCD MAY have been better, can't decide. Do both, you only live once!

Congrats... you're gonna have one hell of a time.

For me, PCD was actually better (though much shorter lived) than the Euro Delivery. While it was truly awesome to visit The Welt, see the factory, the museum and then drive on the Autobahn, the PCD in Spartanburg was a more focused and more enjoyable experience. I put it to my friends that the ED was for the passenger in me, while the PCD was for the driver.

Now, if I'd hit up the Nurburgring or if the Stelvio Pass hadn't been socked in with snow the day I was going to drive it, my opinion might have been a little different... but still the ED was about going and seeing... like a passenger. The PCD was more about driving the car (and yourself) at its limits.

Didn't hurt that the first 300 miles after the PCD were spent climbing up and down the hills of North and South Carolina rather than cruising the Interstate.

The most difficult part will be keeping the RPMs down with your new engine while driving on the Autobahn. ED really was a blast.

I am definitely planning on doing PCD as well. A family friend told me to ask for Donnie Isley. I've looked into driving up to Nürburg, but the website seems to be telling me that the ring won't be open on any of the days I'll be in Europe (Feb. 21-29). My coworker told me it should be open every day, but I can't find confirmation of that anywhere. Anyone with any advice with regards to visiting the Nürburgring on ED? Keep in mind I'll have winter tires equipped.

My current chariot has had much asked of it in its lifetime. It has served as a moving van, a dump truck, a people carrier, and (briefly) a home. Its original rims leak (probably oxidation). The sealant wax in the door is melting and leaking from a hole on both sides. The hatch lock has stopped working again. It still puts a grin on my face from behind the wheel. I will miss the chewbacca-kicked-in-the-balls exhaust note. A photo:

The paddle shifters are a lie. I ordered the 6 Manual.
