Uninstalling BMS Powerbox
Hey all,
I had my PBX installed by Mike at N54Tuning a couple years ago... long story short, my car is going back to BMW Finance this summer (weddings are expensive....) and I'll need to return it to stock. I'm a little hazy on how it was installed (though I'm sure after reading the instructions and opening things up it'll come back to me). Just curious, for those that have removed it... is there anything I should know, or is it basically just do the complete reverse of the install (in terms of what wires to reconnect where, etc.). Any insight would be appreciated. Mike, if you make another trip to Montreal and want to do a mass install (JB's for the N54/55 folks as well) maybe you can pull my Powerbox out at the same time Happy holidays and happy new year all! |

while I don't have one, I would assume you leave it on the stock map setting and then just make the wires go back to normal.

Yes - just reverse.

Exactly. Just one wire at a time so you don't mess anything up! It can be a pain but should only take an hour or so. Print off the instructions so you know what your doing and read it prior to doing the take out.

Having recently been part of an install, I could concur with the above recommendations, but say you should set aside perhaps three hours, because at some point you'll run into something that doesn't quite go the way you intend and need to retrace your steps.
But the advice here is sound -- reverse the install steps, go slow, do only ONE wire at a time, and take some photos as you are opening everything up, just as a reminder.

Perfect, thanks guys. Will mount a video camera to record myself just in case something goes wrong or I can't remember how to reinstall a cover or something, heh. Happy new year!
