bms can tool with cobb flashed car

Hi, I recently bought a bms can tool that plugs into the obd port and is supposed to be able to hijack the gauges and show boost, intake air temps, timing, and shift light, but for some reason for me, only boost and intake temp gauges work. The timing always stays at 0 and the gauge never moves, no matter how I drive, and the shift light never kicks in, no matter what rpm I set it to come on at. The code reading and clearing seems to work as expected. Does anyone know why the timing and the shift light may not work with a cobb flash? I have a manual 2009 135i. Also I'm 100% sure that I've set the correct settings for the can tool - n54 135i.

Really, even the shift light? Why would the cobb flash interfere with the rpm reading?

It was able to read/clear codes. Not sure about shift light. The gauge hijacking didn't work right.
