LCI tail led lights - If I byu it will it works?

Hey guys. I have 2012 E82 model. I've just decided that I would like to "upgrade" my car look. I have non-LED and non-xenon lights. Just a standard model.

Now the point. If I buy LCI tail led lights (prefer Black-Line) will those beauties works? I know there are many topics with LCI lights but I just want to be sure. Please help layman in a trouble.
(Mirror queston: I want also some "angel-eye" headlights which will works (if it's possible) without coding, etc...? But they must have "stupid" europian homologation)

(pics of my lights)

Thanks for reacts.

Yes. Go to the 128i sub section and there is a thread on how to wire up the led bars.

They will work, but they need to be "made to work" - it won't be plug and play. As Gray_Panther said, there's a few guidelines on how to wire them up.

Your ordered the halogen Blacklines which the LED tubes do NOT light up. You can use a jumper wire to make them work(sort of)... which swagon posted the link above. Post #51

Of you can order the #282 Blacklines for a xenon car... and since you have a 135i with the FW3(footwell module) it should work fine on your car, totally plug and play.

No.

When you go to a BMW dealer to order the Blackline tail lights... you can either order them individually or as a set(and either for Halogen or Xenon headlihts, only the Xenon tails will the LED tubes light up. The part number ends with #282 for the Blackine set for Xenon cars. It cheaper ordering the 282 instead of one left and one right tail light.

Xenon Blackline set(2 rear tail lights)...

Okay, thanks for the PN, didn't know that... However, are you sure they are PnP? What is the difference between the #282 Blackline and others (not sold in a pair) that they can be retrofitted to an LCI Halogen car without any additional wiring? I have never seen anyone saying that LCI HIGH tails are PnP on LCI Halogen E82's!

So there are like 3 options?

1. Easily take one wire on the outer light and transferred it to the LED power source and let LEDs work without outer braking lights.

2. Tapping in one extra wire to power the LED and pulling out the current running light wire.

3. Just spend some money to buy set of xenon black-line lights (#282). (And if I do this third option I don't have to put there any extra wire?)

So if described those options correctly which would you guys choose as the most clever one?

Your current tail lights will not have the led bars light up.

You have to buy the #282 tail lights to utilize the LED bars.

I know that the Xenon tail lights whether it's just the LCI or Blacklines work in all US Spec 135i's. Totally PnP. I am not 100% sure on Euro Spec 135i's. I think as long as you have the Footwell-3 (FR3) module(xenon cars), it will work. But some EU spec cars have FR2 module, so I am not sure for those cars. I think IF your 135i had halogen headlights... you might need to upgrade your footwell module in order for the #282 LED tubes to light up.

Basically IF your car has LED tail lights(regardless of your headlight type), xenon Blacklines will work on your car. IF your car had LCI tails without the LED tubes lighting up... you will need to upgrade your footwell module to make the #282 Blacklines work. Or... order the Blacklines that the LED tubes do NOT light up. I would order a new Footwell module or buy one used off of ebay.

I'm pretty sure it was discussed in this thread... post #619

I think that all LCI E82/88's have FRM3. It just needs to be coded for OEM xenon headlights when doing a retrofit, but apparently not needed to do so when you're installing HIGH taillights (according to viciousgook and Gray_Panther who have done some wiring only).

#381 are BASIC/LOW Blackline taillights - those that you get when your car has halogen lights from factory.
