Take the A12 (Inntal) Austrian Autobahn, exit direction: Prutz/Nauders. The road is quite curvy and your going up hill thru some tunnels. The road is call: 180 or Reichpass

Just before the Fortress Nauders (Festung Nauders) you will be going thru a sort of “half” tunnel. The right side of the covered road/tunnel is open. JUST as the covered road ends… you pop out and THERE is Festung Nauders on your RIGHT. Parking is very limited… so I would say either park in front of the fortress or to the LEFT up a gravel road. There is a old ruined (yellow?) house there. IF the first few cars park way up that hill/road… we should have no problem parking eight or so cars there.

You can see what I mean about the half covered tunnel by the very top picture in my post here. My car is parked on the right side of the road. To the left is the gravel road with the yellow house.

Hopefully your Navi/GPS will direct you to the fortress. IF you for some reason over shoot it… you will have to drive away before finding a spot to turn around. This road is kind of busy… so drive SLOW (50 kph or so) going thru that last tunnel… so you can figure out which way to park (right or left of the Bundesstrasse) road.


BE AWARE there is another castle called Schloss Nauders, in the village of Nauders(a few miles further down the road) quite close to our hotel. Perhaps we will have time to go check out that place too! This castle is also called: Schloss Naudersberg, in Nauders.

There is also a BP in the village of Nauders when you first enter the village. I would recommend you FILL UP there bc there will be NO gas stations further up the road as we drive the Stelvio Pass. I think that BP only had Super, so if you want SuperPlus... buy it on the autobahn before you take the exit!

Well I made it safe through the Black Forest. I'm hanging out in Bad Sackingen getting some food and rest for tomorrow. It feels like I drove a 24hr race today, some of those roads are intense. I guess it was a good tune up for Stelvio. I recommend a trip through the Black Forest If any of you are looking for a detour one of these days. We'll see everybody tomorrow!

Well we all met up today. We have nine 1er's, three of them 1M's! We all had a fantastic time blasting up & down the Fuela Pass in Switzerland. We had a great tour of the old fotress in Nauders. Our tour guide even drove an einser!

Tomorrow the Stelvio Pass awaits us - if only Rick can mount our seven GoPro's that we brought along.

All of you guys that missed this missed an epic adventure that ended with a great meal in a castle....9 cars total, 3 1Ms, 5 135s, and a 128 that did a great job keeping up. Six different exhausts and 7 different colors....we drove switchback after switchback....up and down the mountains, we drove through Austria, Italy and Switzerland...epic adventure to be repeated next year at Stelvio 2.0
