Yea, if you need vinyl, just hit me up. I still have some that I can sell you.

Get 4 guys, each grab a corner, slowly come down evenly and pat it as you get to the ends/sides. You may have to pull up and re do sections, no problem. Usually it seems like the last corner has wrinkles and you have to pull up and come down straight there.

I removed the shark fin and the side rails to make it easier though.

WOW this looks fantastic. when i read the thread title i have to admit i was a bit skeptical but your great write up and pix have shut my mouth. GREAT JOB! I have seen a carbon fiber vinyl roof overlay and after seeing this i think that the carbon fiber vinyl would look AMAZING... anyone thinking about doing that?

fmxomar-
Literally just found this post. I have been trying to get my car wrapped now for weeks but the guy (professional-really??) screwed me over not once, not twice, but 3 friggin times. First time, wrong color - wasnt black at all! Second, he was supposed to meet me at his shop - never showed up. Third, cut it too short and so that was a waste. Now, supposedly, we have another appt. where he is doing it for free, but since he didnt know how to remove and put back on the fin, I want to do it. Plus, you wrapped your fin and from the pic, you look like you did it correctly. My questions, EXACTLY how did you remove and put back on your fin? Finally, how did you wrap it--one piece or two? I will wait on your response before I do anything. thanks! NiCe look btw...

Hey Oldman12, I would just do it yourself - sounds like you are about to get screwed for a fourth time. Go search on the e90 forum. I have seen a few good DIY threads over there. Just FYI, a local German company gave me a quote of 300 euros for parts and labor to put a 3M DiNoc roof on my 135i.

Good Luck,
Dachel

I remember seeing another member who did this covering of the rails with vinyl, and it turned to sh*t within reasonably short time.

I would recommend to anyone to remove the rails and cover them separately if you require them covered. That will last a lot longer than not doing it.
Another comment would be to loosen the inner lining in the cabin and loosening the fin to avoid the hassle and possible edge loosening around the antenna. That was done on mine. It's a hatch though, so it's muck easier loosening the inner lining from the rear.

Sorry for the semi high jack, wasn't intended as such

Keep the pics coming guys. Your photos look great. Props to the OP for writing up a great DIY.

I would like to give this a shot and I've heard great things about the 3M Di-noc but will probably pass on it because it's a matte finish rather than gloss so it won't match up perfectly with my other CF parts. I like the black vinyl but I would prefer it to be on the glossy side, has anyone got more pics up close in various lighting conditions?

What is yalls thought of doing this on a Cashmere silver 135?

I really like the sporty look of the vinyl roof but the cashmere silver has a real classy look and I don't want to take away from it

Do it and take a route few has gone yet, if any. The best thing about this mod is it's fully reversible!

I'm thinking I will. When I tried to vinyl wrap the trim on my 335, and I really emphasize tried, it just pissed me off to the point that I rattle canned it to be done with it. Vinyl and I do not get along.

Has anybody wrapped their fin yet? I also want to know how it turned out. 1 or 2 pieces? I want to do this but not unless I can get my fin to match.
